Hurricane Ian: Relief and Resources UPDATE
Efforts to provide help and understand who needs assistance are evolving, and we want to share some important updates.
The Foundation for OCPS - Hurricane Ian: How to Help link remains active, and the page has been revised to include:
- An intake form for current OCPS employees, students and parents who need help following the storm (scroll past the giving form)
- Multiple community resources in the right-hand sidebar of the page, including:
- United Way’s new online application for assistance
- AirBnB resources for housing
- Operation Blue Roof
- FEMA Disaster Assistance
- A Community Connect link to existing local resources for families, including mental health, food, housing, and other social services
If you need help, we encourage you to make use of these resources!
If you are able to GIVE help, cash contributions are the most effective way, and are being accepted through the Foundation (use the link above).
Your gift will go to the area of greatest need in OCPS for hurricane relief. You can also specify that your gift is to be used for a particular school
or for the OCPS Family Fund, which helps OCPS employees directly.
Please feel free to share this information and link with others in your network who have asked how they can help. And on behalf of the students,
teachers and schools in Orange County, THANK YOU for your generosity toward your neighbors, family, and friends.
PLEASE NOTE: In the event that more funds are raised than are needed to address hurricane relief efforts, the remaining funds will be directed to other
urgent needs affecting students, teachers, staff, schools, and programs in our district.
Warmly,
The Foundation for OCPS team
