Husky Happenings
February 8-12
It's Random Acts of Kindness Week!
Monday: School Challenge: Start the day right with saying “Good Morning” to at least 5 people.
Quote of the day: “Kindness is contagious so let’s pass it on” –Unknown
Tuesday: School Challenge: Try extra hard to have “good listening ears” all day long. Listen to your teacher/adult the first time.
Quote: “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” –Mark Twain
Wednesday: School Challenge: Make someone’s day and give a thoughtful compliment to at least 5 people.
Quote: When words are both true and kind they can change our world”—Buddha
Thursday: School Challenge: Show others that what’s inside is more beautiful than what’s on the outside…so go out and be a good friend. Ask your friend or a new friend questions to get to know them better, see how many things you have in common, etc.
Quote: “No act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted”—Aesop
Friday: School Challenge:
Make someone smile with a smile! Smile at least to 25 people.
Quote: “A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.”
Important Reminders:
Student Concerns: If you have a student who needs a "time away", please do not have them sit in the hallway alone. You can have them sit in "time out" or a chill zone in your room, have "time away" in your neighbor's room, or in more severe cases, call for administrator or counselor assistance. We're here to help!
Valentine's Day: We will NOT be having Valentine Parties. Students MAY exchange Valentine cards, but no additional candy, cupcakes, etc. may be brought in. Please begin communicating this to our families. I will send out an eblast at the beginning of February and will communicate to the PTA. Please keep in mind that Friday, Feb. 12 is an early dismissal day.
February 15 is Staff Development:
Schedule will be out early next week! Attendance by all certified staff is expected; I need to know if you are not going to be here.
Class Picture Day is February 9! SMILE and dress professionally!
Early Dismissal Days are Coming: On Fri., Feb. 12 we will use the time for Extended Planning with your grade level. Please spend your time reviewing data or curriculum planning. Remember this is not "gift of time"/free time. February 23 and 24 are designated as parent conference days, so start scheduling now. Conferences are required for all struggling and/or failing students.
NEISD Rodeo Day is February 19! Keep up your heels, grab your hat and boots, but leave your 6-shooters at home! Yes, it is a jeans day!!
