Falcon Forum
Principal Point
I hope you have been healthy and well, and enjoying this long and beautiful fall we are having. I think winter is just around the corner, which means layering up for our students and more indoor activity. It has been awhile since my last Falcon Forum, and my apologies for the delay. We have been very busy during the months of October and November, with parent/teacher conferences, wrapping up fall sports and transitioning to winter sports, and all of the day to day management of our student's academic, social and emotional needs. It has taken longer this year to feel like we are all settled into the routine of the school schedule and expectations, but I have been pleased overall with the excitement and progress thus far. Seeing our students every day continues to be my reminder and motivation for gratitude and service. It's hard to believe we are already in mid-November, and the end of first semester will be here before we know it. I have included in this newsletter some pertinent reminders to help your student be successful, important upcoming dates, and much more. Thank you for taking the time to read our Falcon Forum, and for your continued support.
Go Falcons!
-Mr. Ryan

Counselor's Corner
Now that students have settled into the routine of things over the semester, it is time to reflect on what is going well and areas that need improvement. One of the best ways to support your child and to help keep them on track is to monitor their progress in Infinite Campus. You can make sure they are turning things in on time or help them make a plan to get things completed.
Families on the go don’t have to rely on just checking Infinite Campus on the computer, the Infinite Campus Mobile Portal keeps you informed of assignments, grades, attendance and more. This app is not as detailed as the Web browser version, but is a great conversation starter with kids on grades and assignments. You will need the District ID, this is found when you are logged on with the Campus Portal on a Web browser. Simply click the ‘Get Your District ID’ and enter this in the District ID area of the app.
To request a Parent Portal account, send an email to Campus@BoiseSchools.org.
Would you like resources to help inform you about the latest technology research impact on children? How about knowing what apps, games, and websites are popular with kids? Tech Talk Tuesdays is a great newsletter and blog written by Delaney Ruston, MD Physician/Filmmaker. Tools are provided to allow you to have calm and consistent communication to teach children about screen balance. To sign up go to https://www.screenagersmovie.com/blog.
The Advanced Opportunities program provides every student attending an Idaho public school an allocation of $4,125 to use towards Advanced Opportunities in grades 7-12. The funds can be used for a variety of offerings including overload courses, dual credits, exams and workforce training. To find out more information and to create an account go here: https://www.sde.idaho.gov/student-engagement/advanced-ops/. Students also will need to have a Fast Forward Participation form on file with the district. You can turn it in to your child’s counselor.
