Catholic Education Sunday: “Rejoice and be Glad”
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. -Ephesians 2:10
What a joy it is to be able to celebrate our Catholic Education this weekend. The theme of the bishop's annual message for Catholic Education Sunday is “Rejoice and be Glad”. We are grateful everyday for the blessing and privilege to walk with each of your children on their journey of faith and learning. Thank-you for the trust you have placed in each of us, as Catholic Educators, to teach and care for your children.
Catholic Education Sunday is a special day for all of us to recognize and celebrate the publicly funded opportunity our Catholic schools have to enrich the lives of our children with a foundation of faith. Catholic schools and Catholic education are the definition of inclusive education, as the word Catholic literally means universal. In our school community, students are taught and modelled a respect for diversity-to celebrate and be the masterpiece God specially created in love and with purpose and to see the masterpiece that God created in others. Together, with our parents and parish, we rejoice in the beauty of each child and the opportunity to bring our students to Jesus every day!
Please join us on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the 9 am mass to celebrate Catholic Education Sunday with our friends from the Saint John XXIII and OLA K-4 communities.
Blessings,
Mrs. Boehm
Thank-you to Kat Slater for making our Catholic Education Sunday ribbons for our SJ & OLA Staff members!

School Fees: Field Trips & Presentations
School fees letters went out this week. Elk Island Catholic Schools continue to make an effort to reduce the cost of basic education for all students by covering the cost of school supplies. The fees you are being charged are for student field trips, presentations, and enhanced options. These fees have been applied to your child's account in PowerSchool to enable you to pay online with a debit card or credit card. This also give you the choice to make payments by selecting the "Create Payment Plan" option. However, if you wish to pay by cash or cheque, please send it to the school office (make cheques payable to Elk Island Catholic Schools). If you have other questions or require assistance with the online payment, please contact our school at 780-998-7777. If you are experiencing financial hardship please review the fee waiver here or contact the principal, Mrs. Bonnie-Lynne Boehm, to discuss support.

Apple Program:
Our PSC is organizing the Apple Program for our students this year. The Apple program enhances and supports our school community by providing our students with fresh apples and other seasonal fruit. This program helps support our healthy champions focus for our kids at Saint John XXIII. Currently, we are looking for monthly community sponsorship that will assist us with this program. A financial contribution of $100 will bring fruit to the school for our Pre-K-4 students. If you wish to contribute, please contact our St. John XXIII PSC st.johnxxiii.psc@gmail.com for more information on how to sponsor this important program for our kids. Thank-you!
