JMQ Flash
October 12 - 16, 2015
Lesson Plans
Upload your plans on Monday morning (or over the weekend if you come to school) to LISD.com. Place plans in the appropriately dated folder. I gave you the crumb trail in last week's JMQ Flash, but if you need extra help, ask Dara or me to show you how to save. Remember, start with your last name, underscore, and then put the subject.

Teach and practice expectations! We are silent throughout a fire drill. We walk. We know exactly what to do when we hear the alarm. It took 4 minutes last month. Challenge students to improve that record this week! Remember, next semester, you will not be given notice of fire drills.
Assembly and Awards - Kindergarten
By request, Kindergarten will hold their own awards recognition ceremonies in their classrooms. Once they are ready to join our larger assemblies, they will! We are proud of our youngest learners and all their wonderful accomplishments! That includes our Pre-K aged students as well!
Capturing Kids' Hearts Cancellation
The off-campus training for the 15th was cancelled. The trainings on Tuesday and Wednesday, though, will take place at JMS. I forwarded the email regarding the cancellation to all participants. Participants, please make sure to call your subs and cancel for that day in Skyward and Aesop.
Teachers as Writers: The Power of Modeling
Writers' Workshop Modeling
Teachers teach good writing through modeling. This thirty minute video is excellent. Every teacher who teaches writing needs to watch it this week. The author of this Capstone Professional Development book tells us how to focus instructional modeling within the framework of Writers' Workshop. Let me know if this is a book you would like Shanda or me to purchase for our Capstone Library for teachers. It will not be audio, but it will be available to all digitally if we purchase it for our campus. Please discuss what you learned from the video in your grade level meetings this week.
