Spring Break March 23rd - March 31st

• Formal practices will not be held over spring break.

• However, I want to let you know of a fundraiser the PHS track team is planning. It’s a Learn-by-Doing TF Kids Camp, for three 3-hour-mornings to open spring break. In short: the first two days would offer 35 minute sessions of instruction in all events, and on the final day kids would choose two events in which to focus on for an additional hour of training each. It’s taught by PHS coaches and varsity athletes. $50 for all three days. March 23-25 (Thu to Sat; no school on those days). It will be held at Phoenix High.

• Workouts over spring break are crucial to success during the season. Getting back out of shape will not set you up for success.

UNIFORM HANDOUT – WEDNESDAY MARCH 15th

• Uniforms will be handed out during practice in grade order.

FIRST TRACK MEET – THURSDAY APRIL 6th @ PHS

HOME TRACK MEETS – April 6th and April 26th @ PHS

• We will be hosting these two meets at Phoenix High School.

• We NEED as many volunteers to work at these meets as possible.

• If you are interested please sign up on the volunteer sheet

• No experience is necessary. We will be able to show you everything you need to know at the meet. If you do have knowledge of a particular event please note that on the sign up sheet.

• Volunteers will be asked to arrive by 3:15pm on the day of the meet. Track meets usually finish by 7pm with some events ending earlier than others.

Our state testing window has opened and testing has begun, currently, we are testing our ELD students for language proficiency through (ELPA) and our 8th-grade science students will take the first state assessment late next week. The Oregon Statewide Assessment System includes required summative tests in three content areas (general and extended versions of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science tests), as well as tests of English language proficiency that are required to determine which students are eligible to enter or exit English learner status (English Language Proficiency Assessment). The Oregon Statewide Assessment System evaluates systems, not students. The primary purpose of this equity-centered assessment system is to measure student group learning (as delineated by relevant content area standards) so that meaningful assertions can be made about how well schools, districts, and the state are fulfilling their responsibility to provide all students with high-quality grade-level educational opportunities.
