National Insurance Numbers
If you intend to work while studying in the UK, an employer will require you to provide them with a National Insurance Number (NINo), so that they can pay your wages and make any applicable tax or national insurance deductions. UK residents are allocated a number automatically at the age of 16. However, European or International students will not have this number so will need to apply for one.
To apply for a National Insurance number, call the application line:

Careers advice
How to make Careers Appointments
Honours years, remember that you can have your CV looked over by one of our Careers Advisers before you submit it to prospective employers. You can arrange a Bookable or and Afternoon Appointment.
Sub-honours students remember the Afternoon appointments have opened up for you- so time to perfect your CV and ask Career related questions to an adviser.
Our team of Careers Advisers
Click on This Week's Advisers on our homepage to see which afternoons each Adviser is available via Afternoon Appointments. You can see the areas of responsibility offered by each Adviser and then decide who you would like to meet.
