Very Important Information!

Students must complete the Student Orientation Course!

The student’s first task is to complete the Student Orientation Course. It is important to complete topics in order and complete all items on the checklist.

The following items are required for the completion of the Student Orientation Course (SOC):

  • students complete all sign off
  • students complete all agreement quizzes
  • students make a 100% on the final Student Orientation Quiz.

OR

  • Students may choose to opt out of the Student Orientation Course; however, students who elect to opt out of the Student Orientation Course are still responsible for all content presented in the course.
Students must finish or opt out of the SOC before gaining access to the course. Following successful completion of the SOC, the date on which students will gain access to the course is dependent upon which schedule was selected at the time of registration.

Parent Account Information

The Parent Account gives you information about your child’s grades and progress in their course. If your child’s grade drops below a 75, you will receive an automated phone call. If your child’s grade drops below a 70, you will receive a phone call from me.

In order to view your child’s progress, you will need to have a parent account within our Student Information System and your account must be linked to your child’s GAVS account. If you already have a parent account please do NOT create a new one. If you have never created a parent account or you have not linked to your student’s account, follow the steps listed below.

Here are a few tips for GaVS success:

1. Log in every school day and work in the course and log in at least once on weekends to check email.

2. Quizzes/Tests: You need to be prepared to take the quizzes/tests in one sitting. They are timed and you cannot log out and come back to finish later. Make sure you have enough time to take the tests/quizzes all at once!

3. Print and follow the course schedule located at the back of your syllabus. You can find your syllabus in the "Course Information" widget on the right side of your home page. Choose the 6 Week or 5 Week syllabus based on your enrollment. (The schedules are different and so the assignments are due on different days.) This is the most important document for your success!

4. Due Dates: Assignments are due every Wednesday night by 11:59 p.m. I will enter zeroes for assignments not turned in each Thursday. Zeroes are detrimental to your average, so it is most important that you work in your course daily.
