HALO HIGHLIGHT
We use the word "success" often - especially with our children. We speak of it as a unit of measurement, especially in financial terms. But what does success look like for your children at St. Louis Catholic High School? Hopefully the answer is as unique as the 585 students we serve.
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” I challenge all St. Louis Catholic families to find the joy and success within your own families, whether that's encouraging a new sport or club, having the courage to take a challenging class (even if it may mean earning a lower grade), or taking a stand against injustice.
So, instead of contributing to an anxiety-filled generation of students who refuse to settle for less than perfection, I challenge us to embrace the real definition of success: not lowering expectations or standards, but teaching our students perseverance and fostering their unique talents. Knowing that God created us in HIS image, we strive to serve him successfully and become all He created us to be. For more ways to help keep life in perspective, please click here.
God Bless,
Mia Orgeron
Assistant Principal
Homecoming Week is Oct. 1-5
Please see the Upcoming Events section for detailed themes and events on each day of Homecoming Week.
Our Homecoming Parade is Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. This time-honored tradition is a hallmark of Homecoming Week, and we invite the Saints community to participate and attend. Visit our website for more details.

St. Louis Catholic alumni and their families are invited to a Homecoming Tailgate at Cougar Stadium on Friday, Oct. 5, starting at 4 p.m. The Saints then take on Iowa at 7 p.m. You can buy tickets to the game at the school or at the gate.
Counseling Team Updates: Service Plans and Scholarship Opportunities
Seniors and senior parents: Check out the list of available college scholarships in the Resources section of our counseling webpage. We will update this list regularly.
St. Louis Catholic's counselors are also wrapping up senior meetings to discuss college plans and the application process. Please click here to register for one of next week's Help Desk Workshops. Students are also welcome to come to the counseling office during break, lunches or off periods to meet or get application support.

New Soccer Player Parent Meeting
If your child is interested in playing soccer at St. Louis Catholic this season, there is a new parent orientation on Monday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Athletic Building Classroom.
Faculty Spotlight: Athletic Director Pat Neck
Each week in Halo Notes, we will spotlight a St. Louis Catholic faculty or staff member so you can learn a little more about your children's teachers.
Saints Athletic Director Pat Neck was just named to the McNeese State Cowboys' All-75th Anniversary Team, which will be honored at their Oct. 6 game. As McNeese's punter from 1990-93, Neck holds the team record of 293 punts - second all-time in Southland Conference history. His 40.8 career yards per punt average is third in school history.
"My best memories all revolve around my teammates," said Neck, who also earned a spot on the Southland Conference 1990s All-Decade Team. "It was like having 100 brothers, and the camaraderie we had is what I miss most about those days. As for football, winning two conference championships and a couple of playoff games stand out. We had a lot of close games and comeback victories that led to the 'Cardiac Cowboys' name."
Neck hopes he can bring the same values of loyalty and teamwork he learned at McNeese to St. Louis Catholic athletics.
"One of my goals is for our athletic department to run as a team," he said.
Congratulations to Saints Cross Country!
