From Your Tech Nerd TIM
Technology PD for MES Teachers
March 3rd Edition
Thank You PTA Board!
Our PTA has provided funding to allow me to provide prizes for our technology professional development. I will be providing you with links, videos, and instruction to learn to use new technology in your classroom. If you submit evidence to show that you have used this technology with your students, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a prize.
The prize for this newsletter is a wireless mouse. Do you have a school laptop? This would be a great tool for you to use with the laptop. Or, you could use it with your school laptop without having to be tied directly to the side of your computer. Want a chance to earn a wireless mouse? Check out the information about Answer Garden below.
Answer Garden
Take a few minutes to view the video tutorial I made for Answer Garden. Once you have viewed the video take a minute and visit the site.
If you create one and use it with your students please post the link below. You'll earn the Answer Garden badge to display.
Technology Teacher Feature
I would love to feature some things you are doing with technology in the classroom. Are you planning a lesson using technology? Let me know when you'll teach it and I want to send a 5th grade student to take a few pictures. If we share what we are doing we can learn from each other.
How to Find the STAR State Standards Report
Watch this video below to show you how to find the state standards report on STAR Reading or Math. This will show the common core standards and where you need to focus your small group instruction to help your students improve.
Video Newsletter
I won a new Sony HD video camera at the TIM meeting 2/25. So this week I tried something new. I had my students create a video newsletter. They share what we'll be doing the next week and a few things we did this week. I find that a lot of times parents don't read the newsletter so what better way to inform them than to have their kids tell them? This is something new I'm working on and I'm sure we'll make some changes to this process. The kids in the video wrote about what we did and shared it in the video.

Professional Development for Teachers
All teachers are required to complete the video professional development before teaching the lesson. Click here to see the video link. You will need to watch the Elementary School Curriculum Training.
Teaching Digital Citizenship
The County Technology Plan requires each teacher to teach digital citizenship. How do you do that? We will be using the free resource Common Sense Media. Below is the link to the scope and sequence of the free online program.
Once you create a free account you can download all tools and lesson plan you'll need to teach this lesson to your students. This lesson should be taught by the classroom teacher.
