Student Performance/Data Review
MAP Testing: The group discussed offering a variety of PD options to allow teachers to explore MAP test results during Team Time on April 25. Middle School and High School will send parent reports home with second semester report cards.
Summer School: We outlined the structure of summer school at each building level.
MS: 5th - 7th grade students start at 8:30 with reading and math, followed by a break; followed by STEM work (including math, problem-solving, etc.); lunch at 11:30; and students leave at noon. Teachers work from 8-noon. Transportation is provided.

August 1, 2, 7, 8, 9
HS: Edgenuity: Teachers work 8-12 proctoring all courses. Kids work at their own pace and when they’re finished, they don’t have to come back. The hardest part of the teacher’s job is keeping students moving forward; goal setting is important.

Professional Development/PLC (SBG, PBL)
Leader in Me: The LEAD team received training on February 20th.
Review of Feb. 20th meeting- BLT members Kristin, Kristy, Kevin, and Sara attended- Staff met to talk about their vision, then students met with the facilitator about their hopes, then staff and students met together.
In recent meetings, the MS talked about creating practice language (as opposed to using the habits language that kids know from elementary school and might feel they’ve outgrown or grown tired of), forming action teams (and using current committees as action teams), and working on a plan for direct teaching of the 7 Habits. The student committee did not want to use homeroom time; they preferred for instruction to take place during class time.
At the HS, Kevin G. reported that the HS LEAD team has met three times. They have worked on descriptive language for the first two habits. Action groups are contacting designs - trying to make sure practice language is similar or the same from the MS/HS
2018-2019: The BLT will be working with MS and HS teachers to determine priorities for professional development for next year.
Technology
Management:
Bear Experience: The HS did not require attendance during 3rd quarter, and students did not show up. Since this experiment didn’t work, it’s over. Students are once again obligated to attend.
Staff Concern: The group discussed a staff concern posted on the BLT input Google form. The staff member wanted to remind everyone of the need to consider end of semester needs when scheduling field trips that would cause students to lose classtime.
Student Handbooks: BLT volunteers are going to compare/contrast the middle school and high school student handbooks for discussion at the May 8 BLT meeting.
