James Morris School
Regional School District No.6, June 22, 2017
Message from Principal Chapman
Dear Families and Community Members,
I want to thank all of you for your support for JMS this 2016-2017 school year. As is the case each school year, this year provided a wealth of wonderful moments, unique challenges, and further progress toward actualizing our vision of James Morris School becoming a model for academic excellence.
This past year, James Morris School welcomed many new members to our learning community, including Mrs. Mahar, Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. Steward and Mr. Gauvain, each of whom did a tremendous job of supporting and teaching our students, as well as becoming key components of our educational team.
Please join me in thanking Mrs. Madelyn Battistoni, master teacher, for her years of unique and irreplaceable ability to connect with individual students and bring out their best. I have little doubt that Mrs. Battistoni will seize the opportunities offered by retirement not to relax around the house, but rather to lace up her hiking boots, volunteer in the community to support children, and pursue a wide range of intellectual challenges. Mrs. Battistoni's influence on JMS and our students has been a gift that will long endure!
I hope that you all have a wonderful summer, and I am committed to communicating with you any important information for next year, as well as encouraging you to contact me at any point with questions, concerns or ideas.
Finally, congratulations to the JMS Class of 2017!
Sincerely,
KC Chapman
Principal

Summer Garden Maintenance
Over the next few weeks, JMS students will be sowing seeds and transplanting plants into the Giving Garden for this year’s growing season!
Through sustainable, organic practices the garden brings life-long, authentic learning into the lives of our students who work hard to collaboratively bring the garden to life. Throughout the summer, the delicious, nutritious produce is enjoyed by those in need at area soup kitchens and by families maintaining the garden. Upon arrival back to school in the fall, students enjoy the freshly picked produce and the JMS community is invited to join us at our Harvest Luncheon to enjoy the dishes each class freshly prepared.
The outreach, celebrations, and success of the garden will not be possible without the help of families helping to maintain the garden during the summer.
We are seeking families to sign-up for one week. Consider sharing the week with another family! If your family is able to help, please fill out this form
