Math Acceleration

Friday, February 28, is the deadline for a parent/guardian, teacher or other school district professional to request acceleration (grade skipping) in math by notifying Mrs. Schneider, the gifted and talented coordinator, in writing. Current kindergarten through sixth grade students, who are highly capable AND high performing students, are eligible to apply. Previously placed students do not need to reapply. Included with this written notification should be a rationale for why this is appropriate for the child. Once notification is received, a rigorous review process begins that incorporates data from student performance, standardized test results and teacher observation. Lake Country School’s math acceleration committee will review the data before the end of this school year for 2020-2021 math class placement. Parents who have questions regarding this process should contact their child’s math/classroom teacher(s) or Mrs. Schneider.

5th Grade Articles

Mrs. Marris, a former Lake Country School art teacher, was a guest speaker in our 5th grade in January. Mrs. Marris's former art students made the ceramic mural which hangs in our school entry. She told the 5th graders the meaning of the mural and the process of how it was created. Read the following student articles to learn about the history of the land the school is built on.
