School Lunch Hero Day!
In honor of School Lunch Heroes Day (May 1), Gainesville ISD is honoring the people who have stepped up to feed students during this unprecedented time, by inviting students and families to show their appreciation for their school nutrition staff when they pick up their meals:
- Making thank you card to drop off at meal pick up
- Designing a poster with a favorite school meal
- Post a video recording of students appreciation and tag @GainesvilleISD and @Aramark
- Having students dress up as their favorite superhero while picking up their meal(s)
- Decorating vehicles for meal pick up
- Decorating buses involved in community meal distribution
- Tagging @Aramark and use #HeroesWearHairnets in photos and events on Twitter and Facebook
2019-2020 Campus Teachers of the Year!
Teachers who were eligible for Campus Teacher of the Year were those who were nominated as their campus Teacher of the Month from September-March of this year as well as those nominated April and May of last year. These teachers' names were then placed on a ballot which was sent to their respective campus staff to vote.
The 6 Campus Teachers of the Year will now go on to compete for the GISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year, which will be announced at the end of May.

New Way to Access Distance Learning
Distance learning will continue through the week of May 18. If your child is currently utilizing See Saw, Google Classroom, or printed packets, they can continue as in previous weeks, as this is just an additional resource. Four weeks of summer learning will also be available for students.
March Students of the Month
Unfortunately, the March Students of the Month were unable to be recognized at a Board of Trustees meeting. These students were nominated by their teachers for their leadership, compassion for others, good choices, and for setting an overall good example for their classmates. They each exemplify Leopard Pride!
