What's Happening?

We will be having MAP testing next week on Tuesday. Please make sure your child has a good breakfast and gets a good night sleep the night before.

Cookie Dough Fundraisers came home on Wednesday.

Please make sure you are signing their planners every night. It is important that you make sure they are filling out their planner. Whatever is listed on my parent page should be written in the planner. This creates good habits for next year in middle school. I noticed some students are not writing the homework down and these are not good habits to get into.

Spelling pre-tests are given on Monday. Students receiving 100% will receive a challenge list that includes challenge words and vocabulary words. Spelling tests are given on Friday. We took our first test today. The students are graded on the first 20 words. The 5 challenge words are also given, but will be given .1 point for each correct one. If they get all 5 correct, they get .5 pts. extra credit. Students had this explained to them. Please note: Weekly spelling homework will include all 25 words and they should all be used in completing the tasks.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Math Report by Andrew

This week we learned about square roots and more on factors. We also worked on divisibility tests for 2, 3, 5, 6, 10. It is kind of hard, but we are getting better.

Reading Report by Anna Guido

We took our first spelling test this Friday. We will be taking our first reading test next week. Our story "Red Kayak" is a good story. We learned how to be courageous. We also learned what to do in an emergency. We learned about the 4 types of sentences.

Social Studies Report by Daniela

We made our Colonial families this week. We picked our family names and our individual names of our family members. We had to find out their birth dates by taking their age and subtracting it from 1765 to figure out their age.

Science Report by Ryan Kelly

Once piece of information that I looked up on the internet was how scientists are studying different ways of making heat. There was even one study that they were using dog waste as a form of heat.

Remember to have the students check their homework page nightly along with PowerSchool.

Friday Folders

Students are going to be bringing home a storage envelop each week that contains all of the paperwork and any graded tests or work. This folder needs to be signed by the parent. It also has a space for me to write you a note and for you to write me back a note. If you have any questions, you can either write it on the envelop in the week space provided. Please make sure you sign off that you have seen the contents inside of the envelop.
