Tabar Talks
Good afternoon families and friends of Corpus Christi Academy, we have had a busy week at “The Academy” considering there was No School on March 6 & 9. Members of our 8th Grade, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and St. Clare Parish were confirmed by Bishop Amos on Tuesday night. Our One School, One Book event series continued with our Parent Night last Wednesday. COVID-19 continues to garner most of the attention throughout the news, media, and on the minds of many people.
We, at Corpus Christi Academy, continue to be proactive, preventative, and prepared as we consider all of the posible scenarios we may encounter.
As the situation continues to change rapidly our priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our students, families, and community. We are regularly evaluating and assessing all of the information from the Diocese of Cleveland, the State of Ohio, CDC (Center for Disease Control), ODH (Ohio Department of Health), and the CCBH (Cuyahoga County Board of Health). Thinking in a proactive manner, with the hope that this does not happen, Corpus Christi Academy is working quickly and effectively to ensure that we are able to provide substantive academic instruction to our student body in the event that the school is closed for an extended period of time. Again, while this is not presently on the horizon, it is being considered and planned for to provide our students and families with continuity in education. We will regularly update the entire community as information is released, assessed, and considered to take additional measures.
We continue to emphasize and reinforce that we at Corpus Christi Academy are devoted and hyper-vigilant to the advanced cleaning processes daily, especially in high exposure areas including but not limited to door knobs, lockers, desks, keyboards, restrooms, and the lunch room. Furthermore, the following practices are encouraged and reinforced on a regular basis:
Parents are to be the primary monitors for symptoms of illness with their children. School staff will inform the school nurse and/or administration if a student becomes ill during the school day.
● Hand washing is the number one preventative for the spread of germs. Students and staff will be washing hands before and after meals, including snack time. Classrooms and restrooms have access to hand washing soaps and paper towels. Purell, Clorox/Lysol wipes and Wet Ones antibacterial wipes can and will be used in classrooms.
● “Wash your hands, often and with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing,” - CDC

One School, One Book: Heritage Potluck CANCELLED
Our One School, One Book event series continued last night with a presentation by Loren McKeon and guided discussions with our parents and teachers. The Parent Night was a great chance for the school and the community to meet and find ways to work together to support our school, students, families, and community. Thank you to all of you that were able to attend. Sadly, DUE TO COVID-19 preventative measures we will be moving the date of our FAMILY HERITAGE POTLUCK as well as changing the nature of the event. The March 25th Family Heritage Potluck has been cancelled and will be replaced with a Family Heritage Night, sans the potluck, on May 7th from 5pm-6:30pm. There will be more information on the Family Heritage Night forthcoming so please be on the lookout. Thank you for your understanding and support!
PLEASE REMEMBER: Parents are to be the primary monitors for symptoms of illness with their children. School staff will inform the school nurse and/or administration if a student becomes ill during the school day. Presently, we are a fully functioning school with no need to close, but we continue to strive to be proactive, preventative, and prepared.
