The RAPP REPORT Anita "RAPPS" It Up
WELCOME TO 2015
Perfect time of the year for a nice warm HIGH TEA.
The tradition of Afternoon Tea - a midday refreshment, complete with small cakes, assorted sweets, bread and butter sandwiches, and fine tea - remains relatively unchanged since its origin in the 19th century. Some credit the Duchess of Bedford (1783-1857), a lady in waiting of Queen Victoria, as the one who introduced the ritual of Afternoon Tea to London, by inviting friends to join her for “tea and a walking in the fields”. This delightfully social and gourmand pastime sparked a trend that has continued to this day.
Toronto has some great High Teas. Our favorite is the Library Bar at the Royal York Fairmont. They even put a fresh strawberry in your water and have an edible swan treat. http://bit.ly/1yE0U6q

MOST RECENT MARKET WATCH
In January news, Gino Romanese, senior vice president at Royal LePage is quoted in an article in the National Postregarding the housing market in the Greater Toronto Area. Romanese is quoted stating, “The social and economic factors that have influenced the Toronto market in recent years remain unchanged… so it is reasonable to expect we will see continued price appreciation in 2015.”
TORONTO, January , 2015 – Toronto Real Estate Board President Paul Etherington announced that Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 92,867 residential sales through the TorontoMLS system in 2014, including 4,446 in December. The calendar year 2014 sales result represented a 6.7 per cent increase over the 2013 sales figure of 87,049 and was just short of the record set in 2007.

Five Things to Know When Buying from a Bank
I have started receiving inquiries from buyers who notice residential properties for sale and the seller is shown to be a bank. This usually indicates that the owner could not make their mortgage payments and the lender is selling the property to recover the mortgage amount owing. If you are considering making an offer on one of these homes, here are 5 things you need to know:

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY
In one of, it not, the most improbable comebacks in NFL playoff history, the Seattle Seahawks stunned the Green Bay Packers to win 28-22 in overtime to reach the Superbowl for the second straight year. Seattle trailed by 12 with less than three minutes to play, but came back and ultimately won in overtime. The Seahawks are the defending champions and will play Tom Brady and the Patriots – no strangers to the Superbowl. No team has won back-to-back championships since coincidentally Brady and the Patriots did it 10 years ago. Las Vegas expects this to be a close game as the betting line is a “pick”, which means there is no point spread and bettors can simply bet on who will win the game.
Tough Times for the Leafs and Raptors
Toronto’s sports teams have had a rough time lately. The Leafs fired their coach and then went on a west coast road trip scoring only once in four games. They have slipped from a playoff spot and with disappointing results, trade rumours swirl around the team. The Raptors still have a tight grip on first place in their division, but they have lost some games recently to weaker opponents, despite the return of DeMar DeRozan. There would have to be a major collapse for the Raptors to fall out of a playoff spot in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
