MLC Weekly News and Notes
February 19th-23rd
Hello, MLC community. What a wonderful time we had during KINDNESS WEEK at MLC! Elementary students went on a rock hunt, shared joy through kind gestures and spread positivity through the building. Some earned a special "Caught Being Kind" heart!
We also celebrated with our annual MLC Craft Faire Thursday evening. Thank you to all of the student vendors that showcased your amazing crafting talents! SUPER SHOUT OUT to SHELIA HANSON for all of the organizing and LOVE you gave to make this special event happen! Another thanks to the textiles class for helping with table planning and to all of our parent/community volunteers. :)
Quick reminder - we DO have school Monday (Presidents Day) to make up for some of our lost instructional time.
Let's have a wonderful week!
Best,
Suezann & Darren

CRAFT FAIR THANK YOU
Huge shout out to Sheila Hanson for her tireless work wrangling the Craft Fair again this year and to all our student and adult artisans. It was amazing to see so many beautiful creations from our MLC community.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: PARKING CREW STARTS FEBRUARY 24
The Timbers season kicks off February 24 and we are looking for volunteers to join our parking crew. Shifts are short and our parking coordinators (other parents) will be there to teach you everything you need to know. These parking fundraisers are a key way for us to raise money for MLC to fund everything from electives to field trips to special events (all the things your student loves).
Sign up HERE with a friend or come make new ones!
SAVE THE DATE: MLC PTSA COMMUNITY NIGHT & ANNUAL AUCTION
Friday, May 10
The Evergreen, 618 SE Alder St
This is traditionally our largest fundraiser of the year and a fun opportunity to come together and celebrate the magic of MLC. Over the coming months, we'll share details about how MLC families can help us put on an entertaining event that both raises funds and builds community. We can’t do it without you!
VOLUNTEER: Most needed roles right now include:
Class Art Project Leads: assist your kid’s classroom teacher (and/or others!) with class projects (needed NOW for ongoing assistance)
Creative Graphic Designer Type: help design website/poster/materials (mid-February)
Videographer: make a call-to-action video (March/April)
Photographer: take pictures of donated items / baskets and/or possibly of the event itself! (mid-April)
DONATE (and/or ask others to do so!): Do you own a small business? Or perhaps know someone who does? How about a vacation rental or time share? Do you have a skill to share? Do you have items in new condition that you don’t need and you’d rather pass on to a good cause? Perhaps you have a drawer full of old gift cards and certificates that you haven't used but that are still giftable (I can’t be the only one?!)? Please consider donating your time, talent or treasures to the auction!
We are looking for event sponsors as well as goods & services that we can package together to sell at our silent and live auction events. There is no limit (big OR small!) and each and every item truly helps…gift cards/certificates, physical items, artwork, experiences, Airbnb stays, festival tickets, bottles of wine, photography sessions, signed books…think outside the box about what *YOU* can offer, or ask your favorite business what they can contribute!
Use our online donation form (or grab a paper donation form from the PTSA cubby in the MLC office). If you’d like a template donation request letter, just ask and we’d be happy to share.
We’re also looking for folks to host Buy-in Parties! Find more info on the INTEREST FORM
Contact Sierra Stringfield Perryman with any questions or if you are interested in getting involved!
ONGOING FUNDRAISER: BOTTLE DROP
BottleDrop is the most convenient way to recycle your Oregon beverage containers and an easy way for you to help fundraise for our school! Grab one of the MLC labeled BottleDrop blue bags from the front office at MLC, collect your redeemable containers, then drop them off at one of the BottleDrop bag collection points.Contact Adam Perryman with questions or to get more bags.
UPCOMING PTSA MEETINGS: Join us the first Tuesday of each month
Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 5, 6:30-8:00pm

TOURS AND ENROLLMENT
MLC Tours for Interested Students & Families
Exploring school options to determine the best fit for a student can be both exciting and anxiety producing. We believe getting to actually see the surrounding location and have a guided tour of the building can be very helpful in this decision-making process. To accommodate the numerous requests for tours, we offer a monthly tour for up to 10 interested families on the second Thursday of each month at 4:00 pm and will last approximately 45-60 minutes.
March 14
April 11
May 9
Please email Benner, our 7-12 counselor to initiate the sign up process or if you have any questions. gbenner@pps.net
When the lottery dates are announced we will also host an evening open house event for families. Please check our website for updates.
