Message from Melissa Hansen - Afternoon Playground Update
We want to revisit our afternoon playground policy during and after dismissal. The VPE playground is used to unite walkers with their families, and once walkers and families are connected, it is important for those connected families to exit the VPE playground. Failure to do so is a safety issue for our students. With groups lingering on the playground, it is difficult for VPE staff to verify all walkers are connected with their families. We had two situations occur this school year where walkers thought to be connected were left unattended. We simply must avoid this going forward. We do not make this decision lightly, as our playground is a great place for our students and families to enjoy one another and enjoy the great fall weather. However, after the recent situations involving safety, we will be vigilant in insisting the playground is cleared. Please assist us with this going forward. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Dismissal Changes & Pick Up Patrol
Anytime your student is absent, or will get home a different way than normal, please change their status in Pick Up Patrol for dismissal.
Examples include they will start riding the bus, or will walk home instead of being picked up in the car line. Please change the dismissal plan in Pick Up Patrol instead of messaging the office or the teacher (but still always let office know about absences). We all share Pick Up Patrol as the most efficient way to communicate and get kids where they need to go at dismissal!
