Summerfair Emerging Artists Exhibition
Congratulations to Visual Arts students Sagarkumar Galolia, Kyle Brinker, and Celeste Bergman. They are exhibiting works at the Summerfair 2020 Emerging Artists Exhibition. This past Friday, a total of 4 awards were given out overall - Celeste received 3rd place and Sagar received 1st place! The exhibition will be up through Feb. 1 at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, 2728 Short Vine St. Come out and show your support to these outstanding artists!
Helping Australia Wildlife
With the coverage of the Australian bushfires, Theatre + Dance faculty Anna Catton, Ronnie Chamberlain, and Cat Schmeal wanted to help. Various Facebook groups, like American Rescue Crafter, requested animal bedding and other soft goods for rehab and wildlife sanctuaries who were running low on supplies.
A call was sent out to the Theatre + Dance program to partake in an impromptu sewing event. Besides purchasing some fleece, all materials were either donated or reused from leftover fabric from various projects. Almost all items needed to be crafted from 100% natural fibers so a lot of the lining materials were made using 100% cotton t-shirts. Besides being able to help a cause in need, there were students who had never sewn before so they got to learn a new skill.
The total projects amounted to around 80. The items will be used in Australia or other animal rescue/sanctuary places in the United States or other countries that are in dire need as well. No matter where the items end up, they will be going somewhere good!
