There are three phases in the identification process:

• Referral - When a student is referred to the GT specialist for gifted services by a teacher, parent, or community member.
  
• Assessment - Data is collected by the GT specialist on the referred student such as testing and observations.
  
• Identification - A committee will meet to determine if there is a need for services.
