Alder Weekly Update
April 25, 2021
Message from the Principal
Hello Students, Parents, and Staff!
We welcomed our students back to a full five days this week and the result was SUCCESS! Staff and students were happy to be one step closer to getting back to our “normal” schedules.
Renaissance celebrated Spirit Week where staff and students were welcomed back into the swing of things by dressing in different colors and styles. Look for some great pictures below!
MS Elective Selection for current 6th and 7th grade students has been going on all week and will close on Friday, April 30th. Be sure you have chosen your related Arts and CTE classes for next year. All information can be found on the Alder Avenue website. School counselors are available to answer any questions or concerns regarding these selections.

On Wednesday evening our female students had an opportunity to participate in a STEAM event designed to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. This fun and engaging virtual experience, Self eSTEAM Night, gave girls a chance to participate in discussions, hands on activities, experiments and more, to help generate a passion for these content areas, as well as build a stronger sense of self. Each participant received a bag of supplies along with a schedule of events for the night. Three unique sessions were held over the course of the evening. Getting Started with Mindfulness, Strength: Strong Girls Are Happy Girls and Code Your Happy Place. We had many participants from Alder who enjoyed this educational interactive night! A special thanks to Dr. Carmelita Graham, Supervisor of Technology, for organizing this event.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. At Alder we are pleased to say we have some of the best in the business! We have some special treats in store to show them just how grateful we are for the wonderful job they do. Take a moment to thanks your child’s teacher next week!
Have a great weekend!
