Announcements

I am so excited to announce that our donor's choose project has been fully funded! Our carpet should be here within the next couple of weeks! I'll be sure to upload pictures!

****IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY SIGNED UP FOR CLASSDOJO, PLEASE DO SO ASAP! If you need the code again just let me know.

Sight words are so important to kick-start reading! I will be sending home the first sight word list of our sight word challenge next week. Children are to practice these at their own pace. Don't rush! They have all year to master the 5 lists. I want to make sure they know these words like the backs of their hands! If your child is ready to read their list with me just send me a note on Fridays and Ms. Wayne or I will read their words with them. If they pass the list we will send home the next list.

HOMEWORK will be starting in October, once I am able to better assess your child's needs, so I can send them the most beneficial homework!

If you can sign up to donate apples for our apple tasting and other apple activities in the coming weeks that would be great! Here is a link to our signup genius!

Thanks so much for all of your support starting off this school year! I am looking forward to an amazing year!

What are we Learning?

ELA:

We are practicing our letters and sounds

Challenge: writing words that start with the letter/sound of the day!

Math:

We are learning all about why math is important. Who uses math, and why do we need to learn it? We will also start doing a number a day. We will practice writing this number and counting objects using various math tools.

Some math tools we have been using: counting bears and snap cubes.

Science:

We are learning what it means to be a scientist! We did a really cool science experiment with milk and vinegar to kick start our science unit! We are going to start learning all about fall and weather. We are also going to be using our 5 senses to observe and learn all about apples.

Don't forget!

  • Please make sure you send in a change of clothes for your child. I will collect them so they don't take up too much space in their backpacks.
  • Please make sure you send in snack EVERY DAY with your child.
  • Please send your child's snack in a separate bag (not in their lunchbox) to make it easier for them to grab during snack time.
  • Please try to send in a healthy snack for your child. Brain food helps them concentrate!
  • TRANSPORTATION: Consistency is key with this one. If you can help it, try to keep your child's transportation as consistent as possible. Remember to write me a note for any transportation changes.
