Easley Weekly Update
Everything you need to know for the coming week.
April 26, 2020
A Note from the principal
Hello Easley families!
I hope everyone had a good weekend and that this message finds you all healthy and doing well. I'm sure you've all heard by now that Governor Cooper has closed schools for the remainder of the school year. While this saddens me greatly, please know we will do everything we can to provide our students with as positive experience as possible for the remainder of the school year. I'm especially broken up about our fifth graders and not being able to close out their elementary career like we had planned. This is the first cohort of students I've watched go all the way through and they hold a special place in my heart. We will find a way to celebrate and send them on to middle school knowing they are loved and not forgotten.
Right now it is not clear if we will be able to open in July and only time will tell; however, we are planning as though we will open up on schedule. The leadership team is meeting this week to continue the planning as usual and our School Improvement Team will meet via Zoom next Monday evening.
Please continue to reach out to any Easley staff member with questions or concerns.
Remote Learning Reminder
I know I've said this is previous messages but please don't forget to make time for some of the fun specials activities that are posted in the Google Classrooms. We do not expect that students will complete ALL of the assignments every week. We have intentionally provided students with a variety of activities and assignments for them to pick and choose.
Report Cards
Third quarter report cards will be available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal on May 4th. Directions for accessing the Parent Portal will be available in next week's update.
Phase 3 Instructional Packets
The next set of instructional workbooks will be available for pick up at Easley early next week. The specific date will be posted this Wednesday afternoon via email, Facebook, and Twitter. There will be two pick-up times during the day: 10am -12pm and 4-6 PM. We will have grade level tables set up at the back bus lot where parents can park and walk up and select the appropriate grade level packet. Some staff members will be present, however, we will not be manning the tables but instead waving from a safe social distance. The tables will be spaced out so folks can walk up and get what they need while still practicing social distancing.
