A Message from Mrs. Johnson

Hello Bryant families,

TOMORROW, AUGUST 14TH IS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!! Awwww Yeah!

We are so happy and exicted to have our little bees back on campus. As a reminder, On the first day of school only, parents/guardians will be allowed on campus to walk their children to their classroom. Once the bell rings, parents/guardians will be asked to immediately exit the campus so we can begin the school day. The first day of school can be difficult for some of our younger students. You may see tears, they may scream, they may throw themselves to the ground, and they may even hold on to you as tight as they can. We are equipt and prepared to deal with all of these circumstances. It is important for parents/guardians to reassure their children that school is a safe place and to exit the campus. It will be tough for you as a parent but you have to do it. Our team will be on "deck" to comfort your little one. I will not call a parent unless a student is completely inconsolable.

We live in the Inland Empire and it gets very hot as you all know. This week, we are expecting very high heat. Please ensure your child is dressed in light, breathable fabrics and has plenty of water. We do have two water bottle filling stations on campus. The RUSD District nurse monitors the heat index for all RUSD schools. In the event the heat index reaches 100 degrees, the District nurse will instruct all sites regarding next steps. Next steps could include, but are not limited to: advising students to take frequent water breaks, encouraging students to stay in the shade, restricting equipment usage, restricting outdoor play.

Let's make this the best year ever! As always, thank you for being wonderful partners. Team Bryant appreciates your support.

Have a fantastic week!

Morning drop off and dismissal locations

When the morning bell rings, students may enter through one of two gates: 3rd Street (front of school) or Pine Street. All bike riders must enter through the Pine Street gates as the bike racks are located on that side of the campus.

Dismissal

TKs and Kinder: TKs and Ks will be dismissed from the MPR double doors on 3rd Street. A parent/guardian must be present to receive the child. Dismissal may take longer the first week or so as teacher place the face of an adult with a child. Please do not send a person who is not on the authorized pick up list identified in Aeries to pick up a child. For the safety of the child, the student will not be released and you will be called to pick up the child.

Ms. Reed/Ms. Jurls: Students are dismissed from the Pine Street gate.

Third and Fourth grades: Students are dismissed from the 4th Street gate.

Fifth/Sixth/Mrs. Noble: Students are dismissed from the 3rd gate (front of school).

**Dismissal locations are subject to change. Please communicate with the classroom teacher.

Parking in the Community

Bryant is a very small community school with NO parking lot. All staff and visitors must rely on street parking. We must be mindful of our neighbors that live in the homes adjacent to the schools perimeter. Please do not park in a manner that may block a homeowners driveway. Trash day is every Thursday and it is important for all homeowners to have their trash picked up. Please do not block anyone trash cans as this may impact their trash being picked up by waste managment for the City of Riverside. Street sweeping day is every Friday. Please be sure to read the signs regarding which side will be serviced each week.

The safety of our students and families is our first priority. DO NOT stop your car in the middle of the street and let your child to get out or stop to load children into the car. Although we plead with parents/guardians not to do this, it is a practice we observe every day. This practice is very unsafe. The extra five or 10 minutes it will take drop your children off or pick them up is worth their safety and the safety of all other Bryant community members. Lastly, please do not block cross walks when parking. Doing this impacts the ability of children to safely cross the street.

Drivers will be responsible for any parking tickets or moving voiolations that are issued by RPD or parking enforcement. This is not the responsibility of the school site or the school district. Thank you in advance for considering the safety of our students.

23-24 - Data Confirmation

The data confirmation window for 2023-2024 will be July 17, 2023, through September 30, 2023. For the 2023-2024 school year, every parent/guardian of returning students MUST use the online Annual Data Confirmation process. Returning parents will not be required to print and submit hard copies of the Emergency Card. If you have questions or need support with completing the data confirmation online, please contact the main office. We will be happy to help.

Parent - Student handbook

Please take a minute to read/review the 23-24 Parent-student handbook with your child. Information in the handbook includes, but is not limited to: attendance, bully policy, birthday parties, riding bikes to school, etc. When finalizing your data confirmation you may be asked to confirm that you have received/read the handbook. Please contact the main office if you have any questions.

HEARTS Applications for the 23-24 school year are here!
