MLK Community Updates

Week of December 5th - December 9th

Message from Ms. Winford

Dear Tiger Community,

Happy December MLK Community! Last week was a great week back with our AVID family night and our Tiger Buffet. I have to thank our AVID site team, Mrs. Tillman-Perry, Dr. Meyer, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Beverly, Mrs. Tyesky, Ms. Williams and Mr. Baxter for an engaging full evening of community and information for our AVID scholars and their families. I would also like to thank Mrs. Aboke and all of our club advisors for planning another successful and fun Tiger Buffet for our scholars to enjoy at lunch on Friday for their hard work and to raise money. This week we have a field trip for 7th graders on the 6th and minimum day on Friday the 9th. It is cold and wet outside, please ensure that your scholar has appropriate clothing to keep them dry during this weather. If any assistance is needed, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office so we can offer some resources. I hope you all have a great week and see you around campus!

Dress Code Reminders

We are a uniform school and the uniform consists of navy blue bottoms and white collared shirt. Solid red shoes, clothing and accessories of any kind is prohibited. Ripped clothing is prohibited. Scholars in violation of dress code will be documented in Aeries, offered a change of clothes or asked to call home.

Cell Phone Reminders

Just a reminder that MLKJ JHS is a cell phone free school. Please help us keep your scholar focused on building relationships and on their learning by asking that they keep their phones put away and off during the school day. If you need to reach your scholar, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the office and we can deliver a message or have your scholar call you.
