Desert Mirage HS Highlights

It's Great To Be A Ram!!

Week of March 14

College Visits

On Friday March 11th we took Migrant Students from all three high school to a CSUSM Migrant Campus Tour. Most students are Junior and Sophomores who may choose to apply to this university next fall. We did take three seniors who applied to CSUSM, however, have never seen or been at the college before. Two of them have been accepted by the university and after the tour they really felt this school was a great fit for them. They will return in two weeks to attend the Parent Cougar Blue day!

Mobius - The Art of Engagement Now

The Picture Below (Flyer) is for Juniors and Seniors only. Students may register to attend this event over Spring Break on their own. A Teacher can attend with students and the school site will turn this into a field trip and set up district transportation. The event organizer is an alumni of Desert Mirage and would really love CVUSD students to engage. It is a student leadership event.

Wellness Center Update

The wellness center has been a busy place over this last week. Boys and Girls groups have been going so well and we have a consistent group for both. We have even scheduled a field trip for the end of the year with these students at the CSUSB Leadership Ropes Course!

Last week in girls group young ladies made rain sticks with adjectives that described them on them.

We also have a handful of students that we have placed on a check in check out system for getting to class on time, staying in class, and getting work done in class. This is a Tier 2 intervention for our PBIS system. Our hope with that with this consistent monitoring and checking in we can help these students in the areas they are struggling with.

Aviation Academy

Job shadowing began this last week for the Aviation Academy in partnership with the Desert Jet Center and continues through the month of May. Below are a few pictures of their initial visit to our business partner Desert Jet Center at the Thermal airport. The students had a unique opportunity to hear from a 2021 aviation graduate named Howard Marrotte, who currently works full time at Desert Jet and will be leaving for full-time flight school in the coming months. Awesome job Aviation!
