Mr. Corso’s Principal’s Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
This week, Black Mountain Middle School was officially recognized again this year by the Anti-Defamation League as a No Place for Hate School. This past summer I was offered the opportunity to be interviewed by the ADL. In that interview, I stated, “I think being a No Place for Hate School means that you have clear messages that both promote tolerance and state that hate is unacceptable, create systems that support these messages, gather data to help you make informed decisions, and create a team that is unified in their efforts to end hatred.” We have more work to be done, but I am very proud of the work we have done so far and I look forward to seeing this work continue at BMMS.
Yearbook Distribution: Black Mountain Middle School yearbooks are supposed to be shipped from the company on June 5. They are being shipped from back East. It should take 4-5 days to receive. Once we have a more accurate date of when your book should be available on our campus, we will let you know. Thank you for your patience.
Memorial Day: A few years ago, we made this video https://youtu.be/shnrFlkzsGU for BMTV to celebrate Memorial Day. The video is from 2018, but the message stays the same, year in and year out. Please share with your kids this weekend why there are no school activities on Monday. It’s important that during this challenging time we don’t forget the sacrifices our military has made for our freedoms.
Have You Tried Something New?: A few weeks ago, I challenged students to try something new. I have been trying to learn to ollie on a skateboard. If you are willing to share with our BMMS community what you have learned, please check out this FlipGrid (you can see my attempt to ollie too). https://flipgrid.com/corso2434
