A Message from Ms. Lilly
RNE Newsletter September 28, 2017
The Principal's Office
Dear RNE Families,
It has been a wonderful week at RNE. This week Mr. Smith, Mrs. Wagner and I spent a great deal of time in classrooms. As we walked out of the rooms, we were thrilled to see students working so well together. It is evident that relationships and routines are established and allowing high levels of learning. The workshop model is in full swing which allows learning to be personalized.
Our 3rd and 5th grade students finished the IOWA assessments this week. Our new personalized learning devices made a huge difference in our ability to have our testing sessions in the morning! Mr. Smith and the testing team did a fantastic job ensuring a quality testing environment.
We participated in a soft lock down drill this afternoon. Soft Lockdown is called when there is a threat or hazard OUTSIDE of the school building.
Don't forget there is no school for students Friday, October 6th and Monday, October 9th.
I hope you enjoy the weekend!
Best,
Maureen

Super Bear
The character trait of the month for September is respect. So many of our students have shown respect in their classroom and around the school. Monday October 2nd we will be celebrating those students with our first Super Bear of the Month award. This award will be given out at lunch so their friends can celebrate with them. Look for pictures in the upcoming newsletter!

Be THE Voice Color Blast Fun Run
Colorful powder! Inflatables! A DJ! Dance contest! Food! A petting zoo! And lots more! What do all these have in common?! They are things you and your entire family can enjoy at the Be THE Voice Color Blast Fun Run on Sunday, October 15, 2017, 2-6 pm at the Elkins Pointe Middle School Athletic Field. Be THE Voice is a locally-developed, student-led anti-bullying program offered at our school, and this event serves as a celebration of its success and a fundraiser so that it can be further expanded in the community. Individual and family registrations received by 9/28/17 are guaranteed a commemorative event t-shirt and sunglasses. You may register online at www.btvstopbullying.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Students are invited to participate in our 4th annual book character pumpkin decorating contest. They can choose any character from their favorite book. Plastic or real pumpkins may be used. If you do use a real pumpkin please do not carve or poke any holes in it. They will rot and may not make it 😥.
Pumpkins may be dropped off on Tuesday, October 11 or Wednesday, October 12 in the media center.
Judging will take place on Tuesday, October 18 and the winner will be announced on Wednesday, October 19. There will be two winners from each grade. The winners will each receive a gift certificate to spend at the book fair the following week. All pumpkins must be picked up by 9am on Thursday October 20th.
Your students may pick up an entry form with all the rules in the media center or find the information on our website.
