Message from Mr. Stroud
Hello Parents,
We have had a wonderful start to April with many fun events. We enjoyed seeing everyone at math night and the school carnival! Our PTA did a fantastic job organizing the carnival. Thank you to our parents, staff and community members that volunteered their time and donated materials to make it happen. Great things happen when we work together!
On that note, we have had some concerns from parents and community members about morning and afternoon drop off. Please make sure that you are not blocking driveways when in line, and when you see a neighbor trying to access or leave their home, please make every effort to help them get in or out of their driveway safely. Also, we teach our students at school that cutting in line is not acceptable, and that everyone needs to wait their turn. Please help model this with your students by ensuring you are getting into line at the back of the line, and not cutting into the line on Misty Cove where it meets Corcoran. Please see the map below. Finally, we have crossing guards to help students and community members cross Misty Cove safely. Please make sure you are using the crosswalks when crossing Misty Cove. This sets a safe example for our students to follow, and it is the safest way to ensure you get to your home safely. Thank you for your help.
I hope to see you at the Coffee with the Principal on April 24th at 8:15 am. I look forward to meeting with you about our campus highlights as well as a Title I Orientation. There will be time for questions and answers with PME admin. The flyer for the event is below.
There are plenty of other events happening prior to the end of the year including dress up days every Monday in May. Please see the flyers for the activities below.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
See you soon!
Mr. Stroud

GOVERNMENT IDENTIFICATION FOR CAMPUS VISITORS
As Katy ISD continues its review of safety practices and protocols, it's essential to stress the significance of physical/hard copy government-issued identifications for accessing campuses/facilities, student registration, and student pickup. The district is strictly enforcing this requirement and will no longer accept paper or digital copies of driver's licenses, visas, and passports at any of its campuses or facilities, for these purposes. Katy ISD greatly appreciates the community's cooperation with these safety procedures and the ongoing partnership to maintain safe and secure environments across campuses.

Volunteer and Raptor Registration
NEW PROCEDURE! Volunteer and Raptor Registration
Katy ISD is excited to announce the implementation of the District’s Raptor Volunteer Initiative for the upcoming school year. Beginning October 1, the district will require all volunteers serving on campus during the instructional day to register with the district through its Raptor security system.
Raptor ensures quick and easy volunteer registration allowing individual volunteers to create and manage a personal volunteer profile. In addition, the Raptor Volunteer Initiative will:
• Provide an additional layer of protection for Katy ISD students, staff, volunteers, and campus visitors
• Unite all district volunteers into one Katy ISD volunteer community
• Measure and communicate the positive impact of Katy ISD volunteer organizations
Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can:
• Submit and track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer
• The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off- campus volunteer hours
The volunteer registration requirement will extend to all volunteers serving on or off-campus, during or after the instructional day effective January 4.
Join our volunteer community and register today!
Transportation Update - Please read
Transportation
- Our school day starts at 7:50 this year
- Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
- Breakfast is served starting at 7:30 a.m. (all students at PME will have free breakfast and lunch for 2023-2024)
- Please make sure your students are ready to exit the vehicle quickly when you get to the arrival spot. Our lines have been extremely long and helping ensure they have backpacks and everything ready to go will help our line move more quickly.
Dismissal Reminders
- Please be considerate of our neighbors in the neighborhood. Stop fully at all stop signs. Please do not block driveways, intersections or street access. Please make sure that you are not speeding in the neighborhood as this is a safety concern not only for you and our students, but also our residents.
- Please do not block/stop in any crosswalk. Blocking the crosswalk forces students to walk between cars, creating a safety concern.
- The car rider line is moving much quicker at dismissal and we are usually done at 3:25pm each day. Parents who pick up their car rider must have the PME transportation tag for 2023-2024 hanging from their rearview mirror. We have staff who record the number when you enter the parking lot and staff at the car rider pickup location that will verify that the number in your car is the same as the number on the student's backpack. It is important that your child have their backpack tag on their backpack at all times. If it falls off, please let your teacher know and he/she can help replace it. Please be patient. The car rider line will get quicker.
KISD Buses
- KISD Buses will again be equipped with GPS tracking. This will allow parents to stay informed as to the arrival and drop off times for their students. The detailed information about signing up for buses is listed here...
Please see the website for directions on accessing the SMART tag Parent Portal to track your child on the bus. Click Here
- We do recommend you show up at the bus stop a little early and stay past the scheduled drop off time just to make sure you do not miss the bus. Please be patient the first few weeks of school as the drivers learn the routes. KINDER PARENTS - You must be at the bus stop to receive your student or the bus will not drop off your child.
2023-2024 KISD Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct
The 2023-2024 Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct can be found here. Significant changes include moving information from the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct to the Student Handbook. Electronic acknowledgment of both handbooks were included with Annual Student Update.
