ELA Lesson 1

- In this activity you will independently listen or read through a short nonfiction text. You will then find the answers within the text by highlighting using the color that matches the question.

3. When told to in the video...PAUSE the video and go to the EXPLORE section of this lesson to practice finding and reading Silent Letter patterns.

1. Once you have hit pause in the video, you will need something to write with (paper and pencil) OR you may highlight, circle, or underline on the story you will use to practice reading and applying your new phonics skills.

1. You will finish reading The Knight and the Gnat and complete the same activity we did together. Again, you may write the words using paper and a pencil, you may highlight, circle, or underline the words, or you may record yourself reading through the passage.
2. Submit a picture or recording of your completed activity to your classroom teacher using SeeSaw.
3. Look for words that follow the Silent Letter Phonics patterns; wr, kn, mb, and gn in the books you read for independent reading.

Art Lesson
Welcome to our first virtual Art class! In this week’s lesson, we will be looking at artist Dale Chihuly’s glass sculptures for inspiration for our own found object sculptures created at home.
Here’s a list of materials you will need for this project:
1. A paper bowl
2. Coffee filters
3. Water-based markers
4. Scissors
5. Glue
6. Water cup and paint brush
7. Found materials: construction paper, string, ribbon, wrapping paper, tissue paper, etc. be creative with what materials you have at home!
Feel free to substitute materials as you need. Don’t have glue, try tape! Don’t have paper, see if you have old worksheets in your bookbag that you can recycle, or try recycling cereal boxes! Use your imagination and problem solve like an ARTIST!

Music Lesson
Watch the video to do a few music activities along with Mrs. Zingone, Mrs. Ostrander and Mrs. Schade. When you’re done, you can look at high and low sounds on the Google Chrome Music Lab or create a song in Incredibox. Here is the link to the “High Low” song.
