Biography
Her name is Joan Of Arc. She was born in 1412 in Domremy, France as a peasant girl and into a very religious family. She worked on a farm with her family growing up. She heard voices by the age of 12 of St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret telling her to go assist the king of France. She ended up helping Charles VII become the king of France during the 100 Years War.
Memorable Moments
Joan of Arc by the age of 18 lead French soldiers to victory over the English at the Battle of Orleans. A year later she got captured by the English, tortured, and then burned and one of the crimes she was accused of was wearing pants.
Importance
She was nicknamed "The Maid of Orleans". Her biggest victory was winning back Orleans from the English in 1429 when she was 17 years old.
King John
Biography
King John was born on December 24, 1167 at Beaumont Palace, Oxford. The children of King John are Henry III, Richard, Joan of England, Isabella of England, and Eleanor of England. King John died October 19th, 1216 at Newark. King John was buried Worcester Cathedral.
Memorable Moments
in 1215, King John had a group of powerful nobles join against him because he made them very mad. The nobles go to him in "gay military array' and demand that liberties be granted to them.
Importance
King John is really famous for accepting the document known as the Magna Carta or the Great Charter. The picture to the right is showing King John signing the Magna Carta.
William the Conqueror
Biography
William the Conqueror was born in 1027, in Falaise, Normandy, France. He was an illegitimate child of Robert I, Duke of Normandy, who died in 1035 while returning from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. By the time he was 8 years old, he had became the Duke of Normandy. William died in 1087 in Rouen, France. He had four sons and five daughters.

Memorable Moments
By 1064, he had conquered and won two neighboring provinces - Brittany and Maine. William was promised the throne for King of England, but when Edward died in 1066, his brother-in-law and most powerful of the English lords, Harold Goodwin, claimed the throne of England for himself. William got angered and invaded England to enforce his claim.
Importance
William eventually made England the most powerful nation in Europe. He defeated his enemy Harold during the famous battle of Hastings after 10 months. He shaped England feudal system so the king and not the nobles had supreme power.
