Relationships

The last several family newsletters have been filled with "must know" information ... safety, schedules, cohorts, Zoom, etc. But I want to take a moment to pause and remember another "must know" - what Lakeview is especially known for - RELATIONSHIPS.

If Lakeview is the only school you have ever experienced, you probably do not realize that the staff at Lakeview is especially gifted at building and maintaining positive relationships with our students and families. You might think this is how every elementary school in the world functions. You would be wrong! In these unique times, we are proud of the relationships and teamwork that exists within the school, between educators and students, and between the school and families. Relationships are what makes learning happen - no matter if we are virtual or in-person. Thank you!

ROAR Awards

Do you have a Lakeview staff member that you would like to nominate for a ROAR Award? Of course you do ... you probably have 2 or 3 in mind right away! Our PTO graciously recognizes staff members that you nominate and one of the nominations each month receives a gift certificate. Your kind words mean a lot to our staff, so please use this link to submit a ROAR Award.

Lakeview PTO Spirit Wear

On October 13, the PTO sent home forms for a Lakeview Spirit Wear sale. Those forms are due October 30. You can either bring the form and a check to the office - OR - you can order the same spirit wear directly from Styled Aesthetic by clicking this link! Go Lions and thank you, PTO!

Student Pictures

Student picture day will be Friday, November 6 from 8:30-1:00. This is an asynchronous Friday and you must sign up for a picture appointment using this Sign-Up Genius link. You will find picture order information at this link as well as on the Sign-Up Genius. Please remember the following:

• One student per slot on the Sign-Up Genius (not one family per slot)

• Enter through the front door

• Everyone entering the school must wear a mask (except when smiling for a picture). This includes adults that attend with their students.

• There will be two photographers at opposite ends of our gym

• Families will exit out the side door for one way traffic through the picture area

• All Lakeview students - including Lakeview students in the South Milwaukee Virtual Academy - should sign up and get pictures taken

• There will be an option for makeup photos at a later date

Meals during Virtual

All students can continue to receive 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches completely free! Please click this link for the most recent information from our Food & Nutrition staff. Pickup is 4-5 p.m. at the high school on Mondays and Thursdays. Just pull up to Door 29 (gym door). Our food service staff asks you to pre-order your meals to reduce waste - the link to pre-order is in the document above.

Lakeview PTO Update

Our Lakeview PTO had a meeting on October 15 via Zoom. We appreciate the "outside the box" thinking that the Lakeview PTO continues to do in these unique times! Topics included:

• The PTO provided lunch from Skyline Catering for the staff on October 8 - thank you!

• The return of the ROAR Awards (where families can recognize and appreciate Lakeview educators)

• An online Scholastic Book Fair starting on November 9. Usually we would have our book fair in-person during conferences, but we know families are looking for new books. Online orders of at least $25 will ship free directly to your house. More info to come.

• Upcoming fundraisers (Butterbraid orders will start on November 16 - stay tuned for ordering info!)

Culver's Night for the Lakeview PTO on November 16. Mark your calendars!

• A Lakeview staff cookbook - now you and your students will be able to make your teacher's favorite foods in your own home. Maybe this will be a way to help your child eat his/her vegetables? No promises ...

• Plus the PTO is already planning for creative events in 2021.
