Memo to S/P/N Presidents in SCR
Very important info for Sept
From SCR IVP Rachel Shankles----
Presidents: This information was just released and you will have a lot of questions as we approach collecting dues for 2022. The process is very different for the Treasurers and Presidents. Those without internet or email will be frustrated, but tell them they'll get a bill to send in a check. They will need their ID# from the President, the Kappan label or the Treasurer on that check with state and chapter name in the memo. Treasurers will need to develop a method to collect the state and local dues and it will take them some time to make new memos and billing documents. The C T will still mail in $20 to HQ for ITE for her chapter but will receive a bill for it. If you need me to Zoom with you for this just invite me. CTs need to know not to use the old PO Box just the street address of HQ, Let me know if you think this will be a problem for your chapters. I think it is great to be able to pay online. Some states will set up online dues payments for state dues too. Our young members and techies use the money transfer apps like Paypal, Vemno, and CashAp to transfer money all the time easily or to pay for things online. Some members are afraid of these apps. So frame your emails and documents in a positive way letting them know they can just send a check if they want. Email me if you need clarifications.
Fraternally,
Rachel Shankles
New Payment of Dues Methods
1. Online payment feature: Members may pay their International dues online with PayPal or a credit card. This feature was piloted for new members joining in 2021 and was well received. While online payments are the preferred payment method, payment by check will continue to be an option. HQ no longer has a PO box. The mailing address is 1615 West 92nd Street, Kansas City, MO 64114-3210. It is our hope that you will encourage members to pay their International dues online.
2. The H-138 has been eliminated: Instead, each member will receive their bill directly from Headquarters. Chapter treasurers (CTs) will receive a separate invoice to include the $20 chapter contribution to support the International Teacher Education (ITE) program, and any honorary member publication dues ($9 each).
