GPS Global Academy Family Update
June 30, 2022
September 2, 2022
Dear GPS Global Academy students and parents,
We can hardly believe that September is upon us! Thank you for a great start to the school year!
Thank you to those who attended Picture Day and received student IDs! It's been great to see lots of IDs when students are on-campus! If you weren't able to make it, we'll have a make-up day on November 17!
Have a great labor day weekend! Our office will be closed and our teachers will be away!
It is crucial that all GPS families complete the online 'Annual Update' in Infinite Campus. The
information provided will be used by the district or your school to directly communicate with you
regarding your student, or in the event of an emergency on campus. Please log into your Infinite
Campus Parent Portal and complete the 'Annual Update' today!
Elementary Students: Have you joined a Special Areas class session yet?
At Global Academy, we're so proud of our innovative special areas team who has released their schedule and format for the 2022-23 school year. If you haven't done so already, check it out (click here)! We can't wait to see you participating in PE, Art, and Library!
FREE 24/7 tutoring available to 7th-12th grade students!
As an online student, the first person to ask for help in understanding an assignment is your teacher. If needed, there is a free service called NetTutor which connects students to a live tutor to receive help. Tutoring can take one of the following forms:
1) Email your tutor a question and wait for them to get back to you
2) Send your tutor your paper or assignment for them to edit and provide feedback
3) Schedule live, face-to-face time to get instruction on a topic
NetTutor is a FREE service provided to all Gilbert Public Schools students - we encourage you to try it out! Click the following link to learn how to access free online tutoring and to learn more about this program (click here!).
Coming soon: PSAT for 10th and 11th graders
GPS Global Academy will administer the PSAT exam on October 25, 2022.
- 10th graders are required to attend, as this exam replaces their state exam for the year. There will be no cost for 10th graders to participate.
- 11th graders may choose to participate for a $25 fee, but are not required to attend.
Please note: 10th graders who do not attend this exam are subject to being withdrawn from GPS Global Academy, per district policy and state law.
More details will be sent to participating students prior to Fall Break.
High Schoolers: Explore the World for FREE!
Starting September 1, high school juniors can apply to be part of the Gilbert Sister Cities Youth
Ambassador program! Participants get a chance to visit Leshan, China or Antrim-Newtownabbey,
Northern Ireland for FREE next summer. The program also includes workshops for essay writing,
fundraising, interviewing and networking. Local business leaders facilitate the clinics to help prepare high school juniors for the college admissions process, scholarship applications, job interviews and more. The deadline to apply is October 14. For questions, contact gilbertsistercities@gmail.com.

Want time with your teacher in-person?
Most of Global Academy's teachers will have scheduled time on campus to meet with students, provide tutoring/help, or to host activities, including science labs, social activities, and more.
Secondary students -- you may even be able to take your final exam with your teacher if they are available!
Elementary students -- our library is OPEN and has open-checkout daily.
Please check your teacher's landing page in Buzz for their on-campus schedule!
All students are required to take their final exams in a proctored environment; we will no longer allow parents to proctor students' exams. Students who meet very specific criteria will be allowed to take their exam via Webex with a member of our staff.
