Barrington 220 named a Top Workplace by Chicago Tribune
Barrington 220 is proud to announce it has been named one of the 2019 Top Workplaces in
the Chicago area by the Chicago Tribune. The list is based solely on employee feedback
gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC. The
anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. Click here to see the full list.

Grove awarded IL P.E. Blue Ribbon Award
Congratulations to Grove Avenue Elementary, which was recently awarded the IL P.E. Blue Ribbon Award at the 2019 Convention for the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD)! The award recognizes excellent physical education and health programs at schools across Illinois.

Elementary STEM team presents at Northwestern
The Barrington 220 elementary STEM team recently traveled to Evanston to present at Northwestern University's STEM Summit for K-12 education leaders. In their presentation titled "Think Like an Engineer: Designing an Elementary STEM Program" our staff discussed how they created a nationally recognized elementary STEM program in Barrington 220. Kudos to Director of Elementary Education Dr. Becky Gill, and STEM teachers Melissa DeBruin, Erica Larson, Eden Mosoff, Beth Nelson, Rita Thurston and Josh Wager!

BHS boys soccer coach inducted into hall of fame
Congratulations to Scott Steib, who was recently inducted into the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) Hall of Fame! Steib is head coach of the Barrington High School varsity boys soccer team. On Nov. 14 he became the 62nd person inducted into the IHSSCA Hall of Fame, which honors coaches from across Illinois. Steib has been working as a health education teacher at BHS since 1999. He has been head coach of the varsity boys soccer team for 21 seasons.
"The best part of coaching soccer at BHS is the opportunity to work with and get to know our players," Steib said. "They are so incredible to go on the journey that each season offers. We make memories and facilitate friendships that last a lifetime!"

BHS is looking for sites that are willing to host an intern as part of its 2020 Summer Pre-Professional Internship Class. We are currently looking for opportunities in: Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Law, Fashion and Medical-in a doctor’s office. Are you registered to vote in Illinois? The Board of Education is placing a $147 million school district referendum question on the March 17, 2020 ballot. A successful referendum would fund many important facility upgrades in all of our schools. Click here to begin the voter registration process today! Rotary raising money for lifesaving kits
Nominate young entrepreneur of the year
Every year the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) Young Entrepreneur Award honors a student (or team of students) from a Barrington area school that demonstrates entrepreneurial learning, spirit and initiative by founding, owning or operating a business venture in the community. Award winners will be honored at the BACC “Spirit of Excellence” Annual Dinner & Scholarship Fundraiser on Thursday, Jan. 16 at Avante Banquets and Conference Center. To nominate a student, fill out this form and turn it in to the BACC. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 20.

Barrington Giving Day needs your help
Barrington Giving Day is currently collecting NEW or gently used CLEAN warm coats, snow pants, boots, hats/gloves, blankets, books, toys and more. Volunteer sign-up is also underway for its upcoming event on December 13 and 14 at BMS-Station. Barrington Giving Day is a non-profit organization that invites Barrington 220 families who qualify for the Free and Reduced lunch program, as well as families who have been hit by an unexpected hardship, to Giving Day Events where they receive much needed items. This includes more than 1,500 children.

Barrington STAMPEDE December event
All Barrington 220 second and third grade students are invited to join the Barrington STAMPEDE on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Sunny Hill Elementary, for a special holiday STAMPEDE! This fun playdate will include a snack, activities and crafts. Click here to sign your child up, become an adult volunteer for the event, or donate snacks. The Barrington STAMPEDE connects Barrington 220 students from across all eight elementary schools. The STAMPEDE team consists of long-time Barrington Junior Women's Club members and Barrington 220 parents.
