2021-2022 Scheduling and Placement
Dear Students & Parents,
It may seem crazy, but it is already time to begin thinking about placement and schedules for next year. In order for us to adequately staff buildings and make sure that we offer appropriate classes for next year, we need plenty of time to prepare.
The first question you will be asked in the grade-level surveys/scheduling forms below is what building you plan to be in next year - Bobcat Virtual or your face-to-face building. We would like you to approach this question with the knowledge that Grand Blanc's plan is for all buildings to be running at full capacity on a full schedule next year. If you do not feel comfortable with this, you will still have the option to select Bobcat Virtual. Please know, though, that 2021-2022 placement decisions will be for an entire semester and students will not be able to switch back and forth mid-way through once the school year has started.
We know that asking you to make this decision right now, when so many things could change in the coming months, is going to be tough. Here's our advice - Choose the option that you believe you will feel the most comfortable with, considering the current data trends for our State and County. If things change in the next few months and you'd like to switch to the other option, we can make adjustments through July 31, 2021. After that point, you will need to stay in the placement you have chosen.
We are asking all of our parents and students to have a through discussion in your home about what your plans are for next year. Then, find the section below that is appropriate for your/your student's grade level. We need a survey completed for EVERY student by Sunday, March 14, at 11:59pm. For secondary students attending either middle school or the high school next year, you will also be making your course selections when completing this survey.
We know that you may have questions about your decisions for next year. Please direct those questions to Allyson Walroth at (810) 591-6649 or awalroth@gbcs.org.
Sincerely,
Jeff Neall

Since your student will be in 6th grade next year, he/she will be automatically enrolled in his/her core classes. If your student is going to East or West Middle School next year, he/she will have an opportunity to choose from the electives specific to 6th grade students after selecting that building. If your student will be remaining at Bobcat Virtual, we will have more information about our course offerings in the Spring and will be able to send a sample schedule at that time.
As a reminder, if you plan to send your student to the middle school next year for face-to-face learning and would like to know more about course selections at the middle schools, the middle school counselors will be hosting a virtual scheduling meeting for the 2021-2022 school year on Thursday, March 4, at 5:30pm on Zoom: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8072191939?pwd=M3JGT3JHQzNpNG8waWdvY25ydjN4dz09 (Meeting ID: 807 219 1939, Passcode: 385980).
If you or your student are unable to attend this meeting, we plan to record it and have it available for you.

He/she will then have a variety of options for electives, which can be found in the GBHS Freshmen Course Guide. If your student will be remaining at Bobcat Virtual, we will have more information about our course offerings in the Spring and will send out a course request document at that time.
As a reminder, if you plan to send your student to the high school next year for face-to-face learning and would like to learn more about graduation requirements and course selections, the high school would like to invite you and your student to attend a virtual scheduling meeting for the 2021-2022 school year. This meeting will take place on Monday, March 1, at 6:00pm on Zoom:
