Chancellor News and Notes
May 22-26, 2017
8 more days and counting...
Field days are over, and rooms are being cleaned out to start fresh next year. This is the time of year where we just look around and think, where did the year go?! As you prepare to pack away everything for the end of the year, take some time to self-reflect on what was amazing this year, and what could have gone better. Having a growth mindset means never settling for where you are, but always looking forward to what could be.
As a campus, our demographics have shifted, so we are looking to grow in numerous ways in relation to our SIOP skills, our abilities to differentiate and provide support for refugee students and families who may have no school experience, and our abilities to build a relationship with our surrounding community, which extends beyond the beltway over to Sunblossom. We have made some strides to make change, and there is so much more to do, in order to fully provide a positive educational experience.
Next Week:
- Follow your countdown sheet
- Take care of technology stuff (email sent out by Lisa)
- Plan to have awards for ALL students (get creative and have fun!)
- Talent Show is Thursday (schedule will be emailed out, same as other performance days)
- White Placement forms to your supervisor if you are a classroom teacher
- Moving rooms? Follow moving schedule given out
In honor of banning spinners...
Our Comet of the Week is...Jeannie Lopez!
Ms. Vest has nominated Jeannie Lopez (primary ELA specialist) because, "she has done such a great job supporting our team and our students this year! She always has so much knowledge to share and model. She looks out for the needs of the teachers she works with and the students she never hardly gets to see! She does this by coming into classrooms, teaching smalls groups, sharing information, giving suggestions, and checking in on how we feel with all daily tasks and yearly progress. I have loved having her as such an encouraging and knowledgeable specialist this year! Thank you, Jeannie! You’re a star!"
Ms. Lopez has earned the Comet of the Week parking spot, a jeans pass, snack shack coupon, and the opportunity to nominate the next Comet of the Week! Congrats!
