MSF in Syria

A movement wide discussion on MSF's approach and strategy

All MSFers are invited to join the Movement-Wide Association (MWA) for an internal, intersectional discussion on the challenges to our identity posed by our presence in Syria. The complex conditions of the country, from the targeting of medical personnel to the lack of permission from the government for MSF to act, have caused new questions to be raised about our way of working. With MSF operations now considering that the conflict will require our presence for an extended and undefined length of time, the debate will focus on the potential conflicts to our identity posed by MSF's actions in Syria.

A representative from each Operational Centre and MSF humanitarian affairs experts will be participating in the discussion, including:
  • Moderator: Rafa Vilasanjuan, Previous MSF Secretary General and current Director of Instituto de Salud Global de Barcelona's (ISGlobal) Think Tank on Ideas and Communication
  • OCA: Vincent Hoedt and/or Karline Kleijer
  • OCB: François Zamparini or John Tzanos
  • OCBA: Teresa Sancristoval
  • OCG: Stéphane Reynier
  • OCP: Mégo Terzian

Only registered MSF participants will be given access to the debate.
