Course Selection

It is time for students to begin their course selection for the 2019-2020 school year!

Counselors visited with students this week. They went over the High School Course Planning Guide and online course selection for next year (see link below). The portal used for course selection for the 2019-2020 school year opened on Wednesday, January 9 and will close on Sunday, January 20 at midnight. Teachers will be speaking to students about core class recommendations and elective choices for next year. Students are encouraged to consider their post-secondary plans and graduation requirements as they select courses.

Counselors will be available in the commons during all lunch shifts on January 15, 16 and 17 to answer any individual questions about course selection.

Staff Spotlight

  • Today Molly Kleiber was featured on KMOV on why people buy eggs, bread, and milk on predicted snow days. Thank you to Scott Harris for thinking of Liberty and spotlighting one of our Health Teachers.
  • English Teacher, Jackie Hall is going to be interviewed on 1120 AM KMOX this Sunday at 1:30 about positivity and getting through tough patches in running and life. We look forward to listening to Mrs. Hall by the fireplace!
  • Librarian Kelly Oliva's work was the topic of a recent article in Knowledge Quest, the Journal of the American Association of School Librarians. Congratulations, Mrs. Oliva!

Winter Warrior Trail Race

Our annual trail race is on Saturday, February 9th. If you are interested in running and have any questions, please e-mail Mr. Glavin at tobiasglavin@wsdr4.org. For more information and registration, please view the document below.

Film Festival

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4kg6pIjlBs&feature=youtu.be
The library is sponsoring a building-level film festival again this year in support of the third annual WSD Film Festival. To encourage Liberty students to create and submit films, our library will give away a GoPro Camera to one student AND host a Film Festival pizza party where we recognize all students who submitted videos. For student films to be eligible for the Liberty Film Festival, students can submit films via this Google Form. All films are due by Saturday, February 2. Check out the Film Festival website (linked above) for all submission info, or drop by the library to ask questions. For the last two years, Liberty has dominated the district-level festival, and students submitted close to 50 films each year to the building-level festivals. Film categories include instructional, informational, PSA/commercial, story, music video, news package, sports, and (new this year!) animation.
