5Essentials Parent Survey is OPEN. Please read information below about this survey. We need at least 20% of parent participation for results to be published. This information is made public on the Illinois State Report Card. Please consider participating...let's have more participation than DJ and WF (wink, wink).

Erickson has many exciting events coming up! PTO Paint Night for the artists, Creative Writing Contest for our future authors, Paws for a Cause Fundraiser for students who love supporting animals, Sports Day for students who love sports and many more! We know that every child won't participate in every activity. But we hope one event sparks an interest in your child and makes them excited to be a part of the Erickson school community. If you ever have any ideas that you think our students would love, please let me know!

SPRING OPEN HOUSE (previously called Portfolio Night): Thursday, May 25 from 5:30-7:00

LAST DAY of SCHOOL: June 8th (as long as we don't use snow days or cold weather days). If we use a cold day/snow day the last day is extended a day. So this date will be finalized after we get through the winter.

5Essentials Survey: The Bloomingdale SD13 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey that collects feedback from our students, teachers, and parents. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness. The responses will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide our improvement efforts. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The Parent Survey is currently open and will remain so through March 11, 2022. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey.

All Bloomingdale SD13 teachers, as well as students in 4th - 8th grade, are being asked to complete this survey. 5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if their teachers and/or students meet the response rate threshold of 50 percent. Teachers will work with students to assist them with logging in and taking the student survey.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

• Effective Leaders
• Collaborative Teachers
• Involved Families
• Supportive Environments
• Ambitious Instruction

Paws For a Cause: Beginning Wednesday, March 1

• Each classroom will “adopt” a pet for the month of March

• Students, and families will raise money for their adopted pet by putting money in their class’ “doghouse.”

• Money collected will be donated to Anderson Animal Shelter

• The classroom who collects the most money by the end of the month will win a class PIZZA PARTY!!

Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, we will be migrating from Pushcoin to My School Bucks as our online payment portal. We anticipate My School Bucks will be available by the time Returning Student Registration is open.

PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT ANY NEW FUNDS INTO YOUR PUSHCOIN ACCOUNT

Please log into your existing Pushcoin account to verify any outstanding balances. We ask that you pay any remaining balances by February 28, 2023. Please note any remaining funds in your Pushcoin will NOT be transferred to My School Bucks.

More information regarding My School Bucks will be available in the upcoming months.

Early Childhood, Kindergarten, and New Students REGISTRATION OPEN

Upcoming School Year 2023-2024

To register a new student for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year click this link. If you are a current Erickson Preschool Student, you would register as a returning student in April.

Registration is currently only open for Early Childhood, Kindergarten, and New Students for the 2023-2024 school year (Returning Student Registration will occur in the Spring).

Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2023, are eligible for kindergarten during the 2023-2024 school year.

PTO EVENTS

PTO Family Bingo Night is rescheduled for Thursday February 23rd from 6pm-7pm. Please make sure you and your family are registered to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Spirit week is coming on March 7-10th! Please see the flyer to order spiritwear. Deadline has been extended to February 25th! See the flyer for spirit week info and also on how to sign up for paint night. Deadline for signing up for paint night is March 2nd!

Our next PTO meeting will be held March 8th from 5:30-6:30 in the library. Come share your ideas or listen to what the PTO is currently working on!

We have the following open positions to support our PTO for the 2023-2024 school year.

• PTO Vice President (one year 23-24 position and will be voted on in our April meeting)

• Popsicles in the Park Chairperson
• 4th & 5th Grade Talent Show Chairperson
• Field Day Chairperson

PTO FUNDRAISERS

• Come support our PTO during Spirit Week! The next dine out is on Tuesday, March 7th at Chipotle on Lake Street from 5-9 pm. Please see attached flyer for more information.

PTO UPDATES

• The last round of hot lunch order form is now open! Orders can be placed 2/14-3/3/23. No exceptions are made once it is closed. Please use the QR code from the lunch lunch flyer for more information and to order.

• Hot lunch volunteers needed! If you are able to volunteer, please email at ericksonptohotlunch@gmail.com by 2/4/23 with your availability and they will reach out to you. Thank you for all your support to make hot lunch possible for the students!

Please take the time to review the Erickson Family Handbook. Each class will meet with Mrs. Frattinger and myself to discuss school rules and procedures. Ask your student how to SOAR in the hallways, in the classroom, on the bus and during recess.

The first full day of school is Thursday August 25th, for students in first - fifth grade. Kindergarten & Preschool students start school on Monday, August 29th. Students may arrive between 8:25-8:40. Classes begin at 8:40.

School Hours:

Grades 1st-5th: 8:40-3:30

Kindergarten AM: 8:40-11:30

Kindergarten PM: 12:40-3:30

Preschool AM: 8:50-11:20

Preschool PM: 12:50-3:20

Lunch Hours:

1st, 2nd & 3rd Grade Lunch: 12:00-12:25

4th-5th Grade Lunch: 12:25-12:50

Dropping off lunches from restaurants (ie- McDonald's, Wendy's, Panera, etc.) as well as using food delivery services to drop off food (ie -GrubHub, Door Dash) is not allowed. Students should bring their lunch in the morning to school each day. Safety is our number one priority and we would like to limit visitors.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures: Click here to learn about arrival and dismissal procedures for the 2022-2023 school year. Families should utilize the side parking lot for pick-up and drop-off. The front parking lot is designated for buses only. Morning arrival is between 8:25am-8:40am. Staff begin to supervise students at 8:25 am. Grades K and 4-5 will enter through the front doors. Grades 1-3 will enter through the side of the building. Students will begin to enter the school at 8:35 and go directly to their classrooms. School beings at 8:40.

If you are interested in ordering another Pillar Shirt, please fill out this PILLAR SHIRT ORDER FORM and send $10 in a marked envelope "PILLAR SHIRT" with your child. A new Pillar Shirt will be delivered to your child once the money is received. Please fill out one form per child.
