American Dream Essay
My essay was about the average American's pursuit of happiness. With several wars going on and great economic upheaval this decade was and advocate of change. The Vietnam war was at first a well supported war. It had stared about ten years before but without direct U.S. military involvement. Later on the war was looked down upon and hated because for the first time ever the people could directly see the horrors and danger of war.

This is a book about an American grunt and his career in Vietnam. Throughout the book Tim struggles with the idea of this war. He says countless times that there is no reason to fight. This view is shared in the United States a few years after the war started. He does not fire his gun until he is forced to lead a patrol into enemy territory.
Platoon directed by Oliver Stone
Platoon is a movie about a grunt who is a peace loving man who is sent to war. Throughout the movie he must decide what is right and what is wrong in war. With two of his commanders feuding he must often make decision that get men killed or save them. Oliver directed this movie because he wanted people to see the strife and pain that he endured.
