Zones of Regulation

The Zones approach uses four colors to help students identify how they are feeling in the moment given their and level of alertness as well as guide them to strategies to support regulation.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Thank you to all of our families and friends that came out this week to support our children's education! Conferences are a wonderful time to meet with your child’s entire teaching team. Each person involved with your child has valuable insight regarding your child’s experiences at school and can give you a more complete picture of his/her day. Don’t be afraid to take notes, ask questions, and if need be, follow-up for a future virtual meeting or check-in via email or telephone call. Families know their children best; your input, concerns, and interest in your child’s school experience is valued and appreciated by our staff! While this was certainly a different way of connecting this year, we all did our best to meet the needs of all students! We had a very successful week of conferences.

Student Wellness Day Nov. 24th

This coming Tuesday, the students will participate in a student wellness day at Koenig. The focus of this wellness day will be stress management.

Children early on identify ways of managing their stress, healthy or not, and those coping methods become patterns of behavior. Helping students gain awareness of their stress response and teaching them positive ways to respond to stress are key steps that help them deal with all kinds of challenges.

Student Wellness Days provide opportunities for students to develop and practice coping skills with the guidance of a regulated adult. This helps them to deal with the stress in their lives in a productive manner by increasing their stress tolerance. We know that if students are not mentally well they are not capable of learning at a high level. Teaching students various coping mechanisms and healthy stress reducers based on their interests and talents builds their resiliency and improves their overall well-being.
