COVID-19 Testing Information
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.
Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:
The test is VOLUNTARY. Students must have a “COVID-19 Testing Consent Form” on-file before a test can be administered to a student. The form must be fully completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
Testing is intended for students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.
Students are required to administer their own test by swabbing their own nose. A testing administrator will oversee the process and provide verbal instructions to the student.
Testing will be conducted in the school’s Care Room or private space.
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms on-site and are tested (whether positive or negative result) will be sent home. Further instructions will be provided at that time.
Students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while not at school may not get tested at the school. Testing is only available for students who are already on-site and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
Please use this information to decide what is best for your student. If you have more questions, contact the East Orient main office at 503-663-4818.
The self-testing consent form will be sent home in our essential materials bag on the 30th and 31st for all hybrid students.
Kindergarten & New Student Registration is Open for the 2021-2022 School Year.
Starting March 1st, families with incoming kindergartners or any other new students to Gresham-Barlow may register online. In order to complete the registration, please be prepared to upload (or make arrangements to bring in to the school) one piece of current residency, a birth certificate, and immunization paperwork.
The Kindergarten team is currently planning on a virtual Connect to Kindergarten event. More information will be forwarded to the community after Spring Break.
In District Transfers due 31st March
The Gresham-Barlow School District is accepting in-district transfer requests for the 2021-2022 school year during the month of March only. If your reside within the district but would like your child to attend a Gresham-Barlow school outside of your attendance area, you will need to apply for an in-district transfer. If your student currently has an in-district transfer and will be moving from elementary to middle or middle to high, you will need to submit a new request.
Digital transfer request forms are available below. You can also request that a form be emailed directly to you, by contacting any GBSD school or our district office. Forms must be submitted by March 31, 2021.
Families will be notified in writing after reviewing all requests - elementary and middle grades will not be before May 1.
Please note: kindergarten and first-grade requests may not be decided upon until late summer after elementary registration.
