Battling Illness
Influenza
Influenza, sometimes known as "the flu", is a respiratory disease caused by a virus that attacks the nose, throat, and lungs. Illness is usually mild or moderate, but it can sometimes be quite severe. It is NOT the same as the "stomach flu". Influenza symptoms include fever, dry cough, sore throat, headache, extreme tiredness, and body aches. These symptoms usually begin suddenly. Students need to stay home until they are fever free (WITHOUT fever reducing medications like Tylenol or Advil) for a period of 24 hours.
Strep Throat
Strep throat symptoms include fever, sore throat, nausea, and vomiting. Strep throat must be diagnosed by a doctor doing a throat culture. If a student is diagnoses with strep throat, he or she must remain at home for 24 hours after beginning antibiotics.
*Washing your hands regularly with soap and water, covering coughs and sneezes, using hand sanitizer, and sanitizing frequently used devices (like phones and tablets) are all good habits to help prevent the spread of illness.

Superintendent Search Process
The Mankato Area Public Schools ISD 77 School Board has contracted with School Exec Connect, a superintendent search firm, to assist with the search for a new superintendent. Board members want you to be informed of the process that we will be following as we conduct the search for a new superintendent. Additionally, we hope that you will give your input to assist us in making the best selection possible.
To begin the process, the School Exec Connect consultants will meet with board members, school staff, parents, students and community members individually and in focus groups over the next couple of weeks to determine the challenges, strengths, goals of our district and what characteristics or skills you would like to see in our next superintendent.
You may choose to give your confidential feedback by accessing the Mankato Area Public Schools ISD 77 website at www.isd77.org and completing the online feedback form. All replies will be confidential. Please submit feedback no later than February 26.
