Mar Vista Parent Newsletter
Week of March 8, 2021
Dear Families,
Just a reminder about the Drive in Movie Night at the Boardwalk this Friday 3/12 at 7:00 pm! Please order your tickets in advance...no ticket sales on the day of the event! Spread the word to friends and family to make this fundraiser a big success for Mar Vista! The Lego Movie is the feature film and pizza can be ordered and picked up in advance from Pizza My Heart in Capitola. Thank you to MVP's very own Victoria McCue for coordinating this amazing event! Can't wait! See flyers below for details or click here to get your tickets.
Also, we will miss our wonderfully amazing Health Care Assistant, Natasha Bennett, who will not be returning for the remainder of this school year. Natasha has been part of the Mar Vista family as our HCA for the past two years and as a former Sea Lion parent for many years prior to that! She is an amazingly caring person and will be missed at our campus. Please see her community message below.
Thank you,
Stephanie Monroe, Principal

Hi Families,
If your child does not have a district Chromebook, it will be imperative that they have one as we begin state testing. We do have extra chromebooks in the office but I recommend you call in advance just to be sure.
ELPAC testing, a state test for English language learners, begins March 2nd, and the SBAC assessment will begin in mid-April.
Thank you to everyone that has sent in pictures for the spirit days! This is one way we are trying to maintain connection and community, so it is appreciated. This week is sunglasses day. Students can wear their favorite sunglasses and send in pictures to me to be featured in the Mar Vista News!
Most students will be starting unit 6 in our language arts curriculum, Benchmark, this week.

Read what teachers are saying...
They purchased Zearn for us and I have to say it has been a HUGE support for my math program. I also appreciate the $400 classroom funds because I have been purchasing chapter book sets for my class. I also really appreciate Ashley continuing on being treasurer with her full time job. -Miss Risa
