Good morning, Fine Arts Center Family

I hope you had a wonderful week! Here is the latest from the halls of the Fine Arts Center...

VIRTUAL COLLEGE VISITS - Starting Today!

The Fine Arts Center has coordinated with over 70 colleges for our first ever series of Virtual College Visits! Please note - this is for Juniors and Seniors only due to the number of participants that can be accommodated via Google Meet. Many thanks to Ms. Collins for the hard work she put into making this opportunity possible for our students.

FAC APPLICATION - 2021-2022 School Year

The application for the 2021-2022 School Year is now open via your child's GCS Backpack Account. All current 9th-11th Graders who wish to return to the FAC next year must complete an application. Current students do not need to attend an audition - they are evaluated for acceptance by their performance in classes and through their class assignments.

The application window is October 8 - November 12. Late applications will not be accepted, so please make sure that this task gets completed in a timely manner. Offers to attend the FAC will go out through Backpack on February 5, 2021.

This Week's Student Leadership Lesson

“Most of the game is about persistence. It is the most important trait. Sure, when you get an opportunity, you have to perform and you have to exceed beyond all expectations, but getting that chance is the hardest part. So keep the vision clear in your head and every day refuse all obstacles to get to the goal.”

- Darren Aronofsky - from Tribe of Mentors, page 399

Students - Are You Reading Your Emails?

The FAC is fully invested in communicating regularly and thoroughly with our students and parents. We use our social media platform and this Weekly Update to keep our FAC families informed and inspired. Parents - please continue to stress to your child the importance of reading our communications. We take the time to get students valuable information, and we ask that they take the time to stay in-the-know.

As a parent of a child who is not "into" reading his emails, I know how tough this battle is. Let's keep fighting the good fight on this together. We want our kids to be the owners of information, and not relying on others to manage their responsibilities.

- Mr. Popat
