What's "Growing" On @ Cannon?

Staff Information & Updates 04/11/16

From the Principal's Pen...

As ideas associated with a growth mindset and self-regulated learning continue to expand throughout our district and campus, we have been experimenting with different ways to highlight the growth process and the individual path of each student learner. We have accomplished this throughout the year with student goal-setting, personalized learning plans, and with student-led conferences.

We continue to work towards creating a culture of learning throughout our school through these core values of voice and ownership, the importance of the reflective process, and personal growth & development. These concepts are just as important for the adults in the building as they are for our scholars!

In an effort to support our teachers as learners, please be prepared to participate in a "teacher-led" summative conference. There is no need to prepare anything beyond what has already been communicated, however please DO be prepared to take ahold of the reins at your summative conference and "lead" by sharing selected artifacts from your PLP, reflecting openly on successes, works in progress, and YOUR next steps. Here are some questions for consideration that will help guide these discussions:

  • What are my successes?
  • Is there room for improvement?
  • What evidences can I share that will reflect my own learning from this year?
  • What tools or resources do I need to continue my professional growth?
  • What goals do I have for next year?

Please review the following reminders that were shared with all staff previously, so that you will be prepared for your meeting:

1. You have received a calendar invitation for your scheduled time. Please accept this invite, so that it is confirmed on our calendars.

2. Complete Sections II & III on your TRS in Eduphoria PRIOR to your summative conference.

3. Update your PLP, by adding any evidences, trainings, etc..

4. Be prepared to discuss your ideas for next year's goals

5. Be prepared to discuss professional development opportunities that you are planning to attend.

We are looking forward to meeting with all of you and sharing in your successes from this year!

Proud to be your principal,

Tona :)

Items are only recyclable if they are emptied, with no food or liquid inside. They do NOT have to be rinsed out - only emptied. 3rd - 5th Recycling Club members will be available during the last 10 min of lunches to help out for the first few days. Be sure to read the suggestions on how to make this a smooth process in Alejandra's email dated on April 7th. BIG thanks to Alejandra for her leadership with this Recycling team and campus-wide awareness effort!
