The Unicorn Yearbook and Journalism
2016-2017
Welcome!
Welcome to the 2016-2017 Unicorn Journalism staff. We are in charge of the most exciting and important part of the school year...documenting history! This year's staff is not only creating The Unicorn Yearbook, but we will also create the school's first digital newspaper, The Hoof and Horn.
Important Upcoming Events

At Unicorn Night, we will have a table set up in the cafeteria of New Braunfels High School. I need as many of you as I can get to help out.
When: Thursday, August 18
Where: Meet at 5:00 PM in Room 115
What: We will be pre-selling our 2017 yearbook
Please let me know if you can make it!
1st Day of School Homework
Can you believe it?!?! The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd. Because we are a working staff from day one, you all already have some homework!
On the first day of school please bring the following:
1. Planner (Spiralized calendar of some kind)
2. Package of page protectors
3. Three magazines of your choice
We Run on Deadlines
This is SO important...we are a working staff, and therefore have several deadlines throughout the school year. Your ability to deal with high stress situations and time management may have a lot to do with how you are graded in this class. Please make sure you are ready to make this commitment because the staff and the school depends on you to get the news out in a prompt manner.
Grading and Camera Policy
On the first day of school, you will be expected to sign a grading policy and a camera usage policy. Again, we are a working staff...this is much more than an elective class and requires commitment and sometimes sacrifice, but we always have fun and are proud of the work we do.
Your grade in the class will depend mostly on your ability to meet deadlines and the care you take with our equipment in the classroom.
Please be aware of this before you make a commitment to our staff!
About Mrs. Wimmer
I have been teaching for eleven years, mostly English, but three years ago I acquired the journalism program at NBHS. I love what I do, because I can't imagine not being a guide in the classroom, but I am also allowed to encourage my students to take up my passion for journalism and design.
