S.T.E.A.M. Night
On March 7th, we had our second annual S.T.E.A.M. Night. A sincere thank you to all the students and families for their involvement and participation. We were lucky to showcase so many thoughtful, creative, and inquisitive student created projects!
The acronym S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
With the leadership of Mr. Bob Russell and the support of NPS teachers, families, students, and our Morristown High School volunteers, S.T.E.A.M Night was a resounding success! Parents and students explored S.T.E.A.M. presentations and activities throughout the building. In the gym, many students proudly presented their S.T.E.A.M. project. I was extremely impressed by the enthusiasm and confidence our students showed while presenting. They engaged adults and children, educating through explanation and demonstration. I had so many great conversations with students about their projects and what they had learned.
In the library and computer lab, Mrs. Gilson had students engaged in coding and robotics activities. Many students took opportunity to show off their coding skills! In the music room, Mrs. Schwamm and Ms. Carroll showcased the talents of our NPS student musicians. She also led a sing-along in the gym! In the art room, Mrs. Polcaro provided students with a hands-on art experience.
It was an amazing night of education, community, and collaboration. Thank you to all involved!
Guy Davis
This week, Grammy nominated blues musician, Guy Davis, performed for our students. He played a variety of traditional blues songs. In addition, he taught students how to tell the difference between East Coast blues and Mississippi Delta blues. He had students dancing in their seats! After the performance, Mr. Guy Davis engaged the students with a Q&A. Our students had a lot of great questions!
Thank you to the HSA Cultural Arts committee for inviting Guy Davis to our school and organizing this event.

Bayer Visit
Message from Mr. Russell:
Bayer pharmaceuticals came to visit our Senior classes.
The students, led by Bayer volunteers, performed many experiments including Elephant Toothpaste, finding iron in cereal, and Alkaselzer Rockets. Bayer provided our students with safety glasses and lab coats.
We are proud of our continued partnership with Bayer and the experience they provide for our students.
NPS Food Drive
Thank you so much to all who donated to our food drive for the Inter-Faith Food Pantry.
During S.T.E.A.M. Night, the Senior hallway featured projects completed by Senior (4/5 students) on the social justice issue of combatting hunger. They examined how hunger impacts individuals and families, as well researched what is (and can) being done to combat hunger in our country.
A special thanks to parent volunteers Kristin Stuek, Jody McDonald, Marlene Eickmeyer, Anketse Debebe and Teresa Sherman, for volunteering to help deliver items to the Food Pantry.
Terrapin Nesting Project
The Intermediate Unit showcased their work with the Terrapin Nesting Project at S.T.E.A.M. Night.
The Terrapin Nesting Project's mission is to protect the Diamondback Terrapin species on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Over the last 6 weeks, Intermediate students participated in thematic multiple intelligence based activities. Their experience was published in the local Long Beach Island paper.
